Hello my friends, I hope you're all doing well.
Unfortunately, I have some sad news for you. Recent developments, as well as some personal issues, left me with no choice but to terminate Atropos Studios against my will.
I won't bore you with details, let's just say that although Diamonds in the Rough sold pretty well and made me pretty confident that this company had a future, we were unable to attract the interest of potential sponsors and producers. I've heard a lot of promises during the past couple of years, a lot of guarantees, I even signed agreements and almost began working on my new game a couple of times, but the sad truth is that AS had become a hole I was shoveling money in so I had to draw the line somewhere.
I have some games left so I will sell them on Ebay for just $11 + postage, so if you haven't played Diamonds in the Rough yet check out this page (http://www.atropos-studios.com/order.html) because these are my last ones and after those are over I won't be making any more.
I wish you all a happy new year!
Sad news, Alkis.
I am interested to know whether you will be developing games (either freeware or not) in the future.
Sad news indeed!
I am too interested to know if you will be developing games again in the future!
Really sorry to hear that Alkis. :(
I really hope you continue make games in some form or another.
That's really sad. :(
I did enjoy DITR, but it appears that the awards it got weren't bringing any money in, were they?
I do hope that this won't stop you.
Too much politics and rubber handshakes in the game industry these days. You just have to keep doing what you're doing because you love it and take 'offers' and 'promises' with a grain of salt.
Holy crap, dude. That's awful news. I hope it won't stop you from making games in general. I know how tough it can get.
Sad news. I hope that won't stop you to make and publish games in any other form.
So sorry to hear things didn't work out for you. Don't let this stop you from making more wonderful games.
RT
That's very sad, Alkis. Especially when you say Diamonds in The Rough was a success.
Oh dear, that's sad news indeed to start the new year off with. :( I haven't played DITR yet either but it was on my list of to-play games after I finished my own. Actually I think I shall buy a copy now.
... except that I can't remember my ebay username or email that I used to sign up, dangit. Sending you an email instead.
I once had a hole I kept shovelling money in (so to speak, and I'm still doing it now actually), so I empathise with your situation. I hope you'll still continue making games though.
Throw me in with the people who are sad to hear this news, but hope you keep making games!
Aww man, that is a blow. Hope you will find some other means of entering the commercial playing grounds!
Sorry to hear that Alkis, sounds like a blow - but I'm sure you'll not abandon the scene fully. You're a determined bloke, and a step ahead of a lot of us. I'm sure you'll find a way to bounce back!
Thanks guys. I'm not sure if I'll ever make another adventure game, I feel pretty disappointed at the moment but we never know what the future may bring.
Man, that's so sad to hear. Although I never bought DITR I really liked Other Worlds. I still hope you will do another adventure sometime.
Just bought Diamonds In The Rough
I loved your game Other Worlds, so I'm sure to like Diamonds as well. :)
Please don't give up on making games - you have a lot of talent.
Hey Alkis
Just wanted to say thanks for delivering the game so quick. ;D
I've only barely begun, but I love it already.
:D
My pleasure, I hope you'll enjoy it to the end.
Just finished it.
Wow! What a game! Top-notch work, Alkis. I thouroughly enjoyed it. ;D
And I cried at the end. :'(
