Hi there, im new to this forum, but ive had AGS for quite awhile now(bout a year n a bit) and its  occurd to me when i was watching back to the future after buying it on DVD that an Adventure game like that would be cool, i have already started on the graphics part, im also trying to find a counterpart engine for the Delorean driving part, which would, i think be rather cool to drive around in, just like in mafia(if uve ever played it, then ule no that the driving part is actually one of the coolest parts of the game, though this would be the only 3d connection, everything else would be in point n click style interface, hopefully using lucasarts interfaces) so, now all i gotta do is write a story line for it, and then im ready to get some real scripting started....

Tell me what ya think chaps

Could work, but you'd have to get the whole atmosphere and the linking between different times and how one affects the other (might wanna play DOTT for some inspiration) Good luck

Go for it! You could always try and make the game, if you dont succeed your not hurting anyone.

I would love to see a game like this on Bttf.

And yes, I agree that you should use DOTT as a base of idea's on how time travel could work.

Oh, DOTT was definetly brilliant in this aspect.
Another game to my replay list.. :P ;)

Good luck with the game! :)

many people over on the back to the future forums are now dwindling on wanting a fourth film, but turning to the idea of making back to the future 4 a game.  That way, they could get the voices right, and the characters could be at any age needed.  I think that is a brilliant idea, and i wish you good luck on this game.  I hope you see the movies at least a billion times to stay true to the films, they are my favorite trilogy ever...so be nice.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I love the BTTF movies!!  ;D

Like Scummbuddy says, be respectfull or we'll have to kick you in the butt.

And make sure you don't infringe on any copyrights.

Sounds neat!

Sounds like a cool idea, the Back To The Future series are some of my favourite films. A really special trilogy. My VHS tapes of them are worn out now, but I've yet to get hold of the DVD set, can't wait to get my hand on it though.

It would be tricky to make a game like that with the attention to detail and general atmosphere of the trilogy, but I'm sure it is possible. It would probably be a huge undertaking though, definitely way beyond my capabilities. Good luck to ya though, I'd love to play a game like that. The Delorean sections sound like they'd be a nice touch.

george

I like the idea. Im a big fan of the series.

This'll probably be moved into 'Adventure Related Chat' section as it's not really in production ;)

However ...

I think it's a great idea!!  Somebody about a year ago hinted at making a BttF game ... can't remember who/when.

I have an idea for a game I'm eventually going to make that deals with Time Travel.  It's such a fascinating subject!

Good luck!

I've been writing a story for a BTTF game for awhile, but I haven't much to talk about, so I hadn't announced anything more.

I'm toying with the idea of a Time-travelling game, but it would be a short one, probably using Rogers. I may even release it as you know, like a template. What do you think?

Yes, a time travel theme is a guaranteed instant hit.

I think Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was a more realistic depicition of time travel, really. BTTF, although a great series of movies, was loaded with too many paradoxes and inconsistancies. Bill and Ted, however, dealt with an unchangable timeline and everything worked in a perfect circle in the end. Screw that "accidentally preventing your parents from getting together and then fading away" crap. Bill and Ted was more like 12 Monkeys, where everything that happens is supposed to happen and always did happen. Rock.

Hm... I do kinda want to see an adventure game which has an air guitar as an inventory item  ;D

Actually, if you wanna be specific, time travel most likely works in the way that if you went back in time and prevented your own existance, you'd generate an alternate timeline (much like BttF 3) and if you travelled to the future, nobody would know who the hell you were, since you don't exist. :)

Perhaps you could keep that in mind? It's tough to create a nonlinear time travel game. You'd have to program years worth of what-ifs and what-would-happen-as-a-result's. :P

EDIT:

Perhaps I could write a guideline for time travel (one theory, anyway), that people could use when creating time travel games. A sort of "time travel bible" to get all your "facts" squared away so you don't have any inconsistencies and paradoxes created as a result of innacuracy. :P

Depends on whether you believe in free will or not. I guess I'm not sure.
BTTF's "fading away" was still pretty silly.

Jockstrap

I like the 12 Monkeys principle: if you go back in time, everything that you do will be what you need to have done in order for the present to occur the way it does.

"...time travel most likely works [this way]..."

"...I could write a guideline for time travel (one theory anyway)..."

I think it's more interesting when people aren't constrained. Let's see the other theories!
