hello
i am back from brittens, it was good. more details and photos will come, a lot of people are staying on till thursday, so more details will certainly come after that.
people that went = aga, ashen, cj, creed, custard, dark stalkey, dave gilbert, haddas, iqu, jetxl, layabout, magintz, matt goble, miez, m0ds, scotch and strazer
the weekend pretty much consisted of two trips to staines, and the cinema

Already? I never noticed that you were away. Glad to hear you had a good time.
Looking forward to photos!
Brittens was teh cool as always, t'was good to meet up with you guys again, and to meet you new guys for the first time.
And in true Brittens tradition, it was cold and it rained a bit, but it was nevertheless a good laugh. In the end I think we spent almost as much time in the pub as we did on the campsite, and I can't complain about that ;)
Anyway, my photos with hastily compiled commentary are here:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/brittens2005/
Well, Luton International Airport was packed to the steaming brim with screaming kids and confused businessmen, and the only remarkable feature of Luton's new departure lounge is that it's obviously too small for the thronging masses. ;D
I had a good time with you guys, it was great to see (almost) everyone turn up and now I can mentally add real life pictures to avatars and forum nicks, which is always a good thing.
Hope the weather dramatically improves for those staying ...
Is it ever not rainy and cold in England?
Next year. If in Finland. You all will goddamn be here!
:P
Looks like you all had a great time :) I'll be seeing you next year, after my 18th.
Yeh Hello. I just got back. I'm not even tired. watching the pictures now.
I'm already so jealous. Checking out the pictures, with very clever captions, really made me miss last years Mittens. Can't wait for my next feasible opportunity to go again.
I have returned as well. I think the amount of beers drunk was about 300 between 17 people. Although most of it was drunk by Berian, Iqu and myself.
Going there makes me really wanna try hard to get to the real mittens in greece.
I enjoyed the time, and if i can work out how to upload the photos without a computer, i will post them.
Thanks for everyone who came, I had a great time and I hope you all did too! It was a shame about the rain (I'd packed all my summery clothes thinking it'd be hot and all my wintery clothes to Scotland, in the end the weather was the other way round!!)Some great photos there CJ, hehe! I hope everyone got home safely, I'll see some of you in Greece and others of you at future events I hope :)
As far as I'm aware there's still a lot of beer left, but hey - so is Iqu!
Didn't he have beer for breakfast or am I completely mistaken?
I'll also take this time to show the three dodgy images i took with my phone.

Was this the 'yellow' lasershow I heard about over a pint last night? :o
Yes another great time has passed all too quickly. Great pictures CJ, although M0Ds tells me you forgot to pick something up...
I have photo's, which I'll try and sort out - most have my finger over the lense unfortunately & a great one of CJ next to the artwork for his new game has no CJ as he is blocked out by the Millets bag I was carrying at the time.
Worked out quite an expensive weekend all in all, what with two trips to the cinema, Pizza Hut, the curry and the many trips to the pub. I hope it hasn't hit anyone too hard in the wallet - my view was to make the most of us all getting together, and to worry about the cash later, but then I'm in full time employment so it's easy for me to say that!
Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding the AGS Annual - I know most of you probably had everything that was on there, and I'll try and be more adventurous (no pun intended) next time.
MORE PHOTOS NEEDED !!11!!

he has more than one tent in the photo..

Now where's my goddamn cookie?
no, do his other two first!
The man with the cookie said TENT. that's one for you. I could've taken out either oneof those 3, but I chose the one he specified.

The correct quote was; Chikkenwings don't have ... Oh way.
Actually it was fingers. We were talking about chris said:
Do chicken wings have bones...
yes...
Oh, but thats odd because they're just like our fingers
But fingers dont have bo....
Then chris realise he was a fool
p.s brittens was teh awesom0!!! I'll post my photos, and videos later.... when i'm less tired and hungry...
Howdy!
Greetings from a London cyber cafe. This week flew by insanely fast. There's so much to talk about and so many in-jokes to confuse people with. All in all, it was great to meet some of you again and meet some of you for the first time. What really struck me is that we are all, for the most part, very different people with something very unique in common. It's very satisfying to get together 1-2 times a year and discuss our mutual interest.
Some highlights off the top of my head:
1. Going to a karaoke bar with Creed and Layabout
2. Rain. Lots of rain.
3. CJ insisting that fingers didn't have bones.
4. Iqu describing the various substances he has inhaled through various orifices.
5. Our 3-4 hours of fun with glow sticks
6. Mentally scarring the Pizza Hut staff for life.
7. M0ds falling out of a tree
8. Dark Stalkey's frisbee disc of DOOM.
9. The britteneers taking me out for my first traditional british curry. mmMmmm
10. CJ aiming the projectile tony hawk motorbike toy at his mouth and pushing the button.
I have pictures, lots and lots of lovely pictures, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow when I get home. Thanks for the great time, gang! Hopefully I'll be able to join you again next year.
Thanks to m0ds for organising it, thanks to everyone for coming, and sorry to MattGoble -- I know, I forgot the AGS Annuals. By the time I realised, it was too late; hopefully somebody else can look after them until Mittens!
I'm sorry I missed the curry, hope it was a spicy one ;)
And Haddas, I have to say that's a pretty impressive bit of photoshopping... I dread to think what else you can manage...
:)
Hey Chris,
No worries about the annuals, I believe M0Ds picked them up to take.
Curry was very good, although Layabout, Dark Stalkey and Iqu regretted going for the Madras I believe! JetXL and I both had Chicken Jalfrezzi, although I think it got the better of one of us... ;)
One of the best moments for me was Chris demonstrating how dangerous Happy Meals toys could be by firing a spring loaded Tony Hawk bike into his mouth and cutting his lip - classic.
A fantastic weekend.
Miez was one of the really late arrivals.
;D "Damn, I was sure I brought a tent..."
Wow that's awesome haddas, you're getting rather snappy with the photoshop skillz.

@Haddas: That is the most amazing Photoshopping that I have ever seen. I noticed that some of the grass was changed (for example, under the picnic table), but amazing none the less. Please, master, teach me!
Very nicely done Haddas, but what about all the lasers we had at brittens?

We all ordered Vindaloos, and I didn't regret a thing ;)
Just wanted to mention to Matt that he did a truly great job with the annual. Very professional, looks great ... thanks a bundle. :)
Hey, just got back from my extended weekend in London.
It was good to see you're all just as nice as on the forums. Sorry for my almost total lack of interaction, I'm kinda shy around new people (especially the ones whose language I haven't quite mastered...).
But I had a great time listening to your conversations and I'm looking forward to meeting you all again.
Custard, I totally forgot to thank you again for the tent space, so Thanks man, very much appreciated. :)
And the AGS annual is a great souvenir to have at home. Thanks Matt!

Thanks people. 'twas nothing really. Just basic photoshopping. copy tool and healing tool and some low opacity brushes. Try it yourself, it's not that hard. It's like making music with Ejay really. You can look cool making music with it, until you notice that so can everyone else.
And thanks Matt. This CD contains lots of those things that I've been "meaning to get" but have never gotten around to do so. This'll come in handy.
Thanks for the errr.... cookie

Well, let's face it ... there were some particularly scary people around, so I'm not surprised at all... ;D
All the mitteneers leaving london today are ok. Except they have to make changes to their plans.
Glad to hear no-one was really caught up in the London bombings today - I recieved a phonecall from M0Ds asking if I had heard from Dave Gilbert. I assume someone managed to make contact and he's ok?
Strazer, don't worry mate, we all completely understand, it's pretty awe inspiring meeting CJ for the first time ;D Seriously, it was great for you to come and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I know it can be pretty mad meeting so many new faces, even more so when you have to talk in a second language - some of us are still trying to master out first!
Thanks for the comments about the Annual - I'm glad it all worked out considering how disorganised I had been. I will update the topic over the weekend with full details for everyone else. Magintz, any chance you can sort us out with the group photo?
Take it easy guys.
sure thing. I'll try to sort it out tommorow. I'll add it to my to do list right away.
Hi all. As you might have seen in the other thread, I made it back to NYC safe and sound. I had no idea any of this crazy stuff was even happening until I landed. A sad end to an otherwise fantastic trip. Anyway, I have oodles of pics but I'm way too jetlagged and wonky to upload them now. I'll get them up tomorrow. Promise.

I did say please... And just for the record I was referring to the non-laser photos. The lasers were nice, but I was so much more impressed by the others...
i still have to attempt to get my photos online... I may have to bribe the internet cafe people to do it. Stupid no computer crap.
Welcome back guys. Seems like it was loads of fun. Hehe, the photos brough back memories, many familiar places and faces. :) See (some of) you at Mittens!

nice pictures i especially like the commentary.
Yep, nice pictures Dave - thanks for sharing! The final picture is either lovely or spooky, and if tony hawks really is in flight on that photo with Magintz, that was great timing!
Indeedy, nice pics Dave. When did you guys slip out to PC World?!?
When we were hunting around for a means of sating our Internet addiction.
Here's also a silly video of Magintz trying to fire Tony Hawk up his nose:

Good to see I'm keeping up the tradition of looking rediculous in 99% of gathering photos (with added "what-the-heck-is-wrong-with-those-eyes" this year, woo)!
And this just scares the heck out of me Dave... http://www.lumpcity.co.uk/ags/brittens2005/lpic0055.jpg
I have one of those photo's which is less scary and more... oh I see what is going on there
Hey Dave, why did you come to Houston? Where were you coming from? I mean, it wouldn't make sense to fly from NY to Houston to London...o_0. That's the airport where my dad works, so I've seen that statue a couple times before...when I was flying for free*... :) But then, being cramped up in the back of the plane because it was the only open seat can suck. I actually got a ride up in first class once.
*For those who don't know, I was flying "Standby" which means that I get to "Stand by" and watch everyone else get on the plane, and if there's an open seat then I can ride (of course my dad has to get a standby ticket (which is free, but he has limited passes), I can't just get on any plane I feel like...).

Hey Dave, why did you come to Houston? Where were you coming from? I mean, it wouldn't make sense to fly from NY to Houston to London...o_0.
Must I explain this again? :P
Basically I was using my Delta flyer miles, so I could ONLY fly on Delta or one of their affiliates. The only flight they could get for me was out of Houston, so that's what I took. Basically, you get what you pay for! Fortunately, they got me a direct flight back so that made up for it.
I have no photos, but I did draw a comic about a conversation I had with Haddas.
The photo's are great! It was a really quality holiday, one of the best I've had.
Davy
Hah. Most excellent. Reminds me of a brief conversation we had:
ME: You have hair now. Why do you still draw yourself with a shaved head?
CREED: Cartoon Davy doesn't grow hair!
DaveGil: Okay...Sorry that I missed that part. Just interesting knowing that you were in IAH which is where my dad works...
Haha. I laughed at that one Malay. I laughed hard. And then I cried when I remembered that is the EXACT words i said.
EDIT: And mr.Monkey sir, That's what I was referring to too. The laser ones were whipped up in a minute.
That's sad Haddas. "The dog is brown."? Funny, but sad... And I kind of missed the part where you were referring to the tent-removal pictures. Something about the fact the post read:

Yeah...I just didn't catch the part where it wasn't about the lasers.
Oh yes. I should've specified better. I was answering to someone elses eariler post where the whereabouts of the lasers was queried.
And about the brown dog. I like to point out obvious facts like I'm the only one who notices it
Very nice. I still am yet to post anything about my photo's so I shall shut up till tomorow, when I WILL post them.

Is it just me, or does m0ds have a really girly cry as he falls from the tree?
Yes, he does... probably one of the higlights of the trip :D
You'll be happy to know that that is how he scored the position of voicing Sophie Hapgood in Fountain of Youth.
Hehe, I completely forgot you shooting those vids. Good to know that m0ds' fall has been immortalised for all time ;)
That's not all he was immortalized in...
