That's not the right thinking, I'm afraid...
you can't copyright an idea, just by starting a thread, and preventing all others to ever use that idea.
Firstly because we can never decide who came up with it first.
Secondly because you might hypothetically never release this game, while others may, so it all ends up pretty destructivly
Thridly because if somebody else uses the same idea as you some day in the future, it's not really a big deal, right?

sorry i was afraid i would be copying if that happened but all i wanted to know is if you can post your game if you don't have a screenshot to show yet but no it is not a big deal i was just afraid that if some one did come up with the idea that i would either run out of ideas for  my game or that everyone would think i was copying if i put out my original idea

with the number of concerns you have - I suggest not making a post for your unfinished game.    That way, you don't have to worry about theft.  Also, the idea of presenting a new story to gamers may motivate you to finish the game.

PS: a screenshot is a sign of commitment, therefore I would argue YES, unfinished game reports should feature a screenshot.

It can be anything, as long as it can show that you're indeed making progress on your game.

But if you really don't want your ideas be stolen copied by others I recommend that you don't start anything in the Games in Production forum, as that forum is designed for sharing info. about ones' game being made (so there's no point to post there if you're making a game and don't want us to know anything about it). Just after you had completed the game you can announce it directly in the Completed game forum.

There used to be several people who never mentioned about game making in the production but announced they games when they're completed (some of tehm were amazing).
