Title: Foregoing FOREGOs
Post by: SSH on Mon 17/01/2005 22:02:14
Well, due to the lack of interest when I mentioned them before, and also getting very busy at work, I don't think I'll have time to runthe FOREGO awards this year. I'd be more than happy to support someone else to pick them up and do with them as they will, though, so any volunteers...

Well, before I volunteer to help out, I, and probably other people out there would like to know how many hours it takes to run the FOREGO awards.

If it's only a few hours of work, then that's fine, but if it's more than that I'm unable to help out, unfortunately. Those damn high school exams... -_-

Well, it takes hardly any time to do at all if you set up a spreadsheet to tally results and then just add to that as votes come in.However, it took ages for me last year, as I had to go around harrasing people to get votes. Maybe this year there will be more enthusiasm, but htne it did take a week for anyone to reply to the thread...

Just make sure to make some really nifty categories.
Like "Best Swedish elf-boy pacifist", "Best ATC-administrator", "Best european non-nazi global moderator" etc

Ah, it's part of the eZine. In that case I won't link to it, it wouldn't be right. Thanks anyway.

I feel really silly for saying this, but I can't remember what the Forgoes are. Could someone explain?

SSH kindly made this list of last year's winners (& therefore catagories) of the Foregos at the time:

http://www.twin-design.com/foregos/

That should explain it rather well.

Those previous awards are completely flawed...I don't agree on anyone of them....I hope Dart will make sure things are handled fairly and squarly this time

Pelican: We used to have a "best newbie" award, but that was for the Ergos, and it was only awarded once. We go through too many newbies to keep track of them all.

Yeah, its kinda sad that so many peeps, register, ask a few questions and disappear. This is most definitely one the most welcoming internet communities I've come across. Well, I plan to hang around for a while!

Sorry, bit offtopic!
