Title: Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island
Post by: arj0n on Sun 19/07/2009 22:00:10
Bill Tiller, the artist behind the backgrounds for The Curse of Monkey Island [MI3] and The Dig now comes with a new pirate game:
Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. Check these  screeny's (http://adventuregamers.com/gallery.php?id=1489) or read the  preview (http://adventuregamers.com/article/id,1030).

It also seems that he once tried to pull of a redo of MI1, but didn't got a go. Quoting Bill Tiller:

"Back in 1998 I wanted to re do the Secret of Monkey Island with the CMI art style. I made this  image  (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_lC4ytZZpKu4/SiwfBzan-PI/AAAAAAAAAHk/ZgbVtNzy_bA/s1600-h/mi_26.jpg)to get the idea off the ground, but Lucas management wasn't interested at the time. I'm glad the new Lucas Arts president has seen the light. Anyway I just thought I'd share this with you all."

Well, looks like pirate games seems to be hot this year...

It reminds me of a COMI inspired DOTT as the basic premise. Of course, originality of the core premise isn't the thing that makes the book/game/artwork etc good (If it was, then nobody would ever read Raymond Chandler novels!) so if they can pull off interesting puzzles, characters and plot then it'll be a winner.  :)

Now, back to writing.

I am actually very excited by where Autumn Moon is heading, it really seems like they've learned from their mistakes and I hope they get to make a few more games.

I'm particularly interested in what they're doing with Vampyre Story 2, in spite of everything.
