I don't think AGS supports enough "directions" for characters for this to work. :o

In what way? That story and style? certainly.. if you mean the 3d characters then that can't be done, and probably never will be an ability of ags. You might be able to make a similar control system with a lot of scripting, but I don't think it'd work as well in 2d.

Scummbuddy

What?  I dunno, we do have 8 walking directions, and there are lots of games out or coming out with 3d chars in 2d backgrounds. I think its very possible.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

you would just have to make the actor move via keyboard and maybe get some cool camera angles  :D.

The problem with changing camera angles with 2d sprites (even if they were created in a 3d program) is that they would look fake if the angle was too dramatic. I'm sure with enough brains (blargh!1!!) one could make a plug-in to incorporate 3d characters into ags. It'd just be one hell of a hard effort... and one would need 3d walkable/behind etc.

Is the engine powerful enough incorporate 3D characters? It'd certainly be hard to do with sprites alone. You'd need new sprites for every camera angle. I'd much rather see a classic Lucasarts-styled game with the artistic appearance of Grim Fandango.

true, but i'm thinking of something dramatic revolutionary in ags games, and if it's a lot of hard work, then i'm ready to do it.
i'm stuped at the plug-in part.

Danny's game might be an example of the type of thing you mean.  I don't recall the name offhand.  I know this probably wasn't too helpful, but I'm sure someone else will know what I'm talking about.

Do you mean help with making plug-ins, or finding them? If you meant making them, you have to view the AGS Plug-in Documentation, I forgot where that can be found. If you mean finding them, there are no plug-ins currently that allow 3D characters.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

my game features pre-rendered graphics and it is as 2d as any other,technically...
