Well, according to Plimus anyway.
Over the weekend I've been giving The Shivah away for free in honor of the Yom Kippur holiday. Lots and lots of people have been taking advantage of the offer, but I think it's confused Plimus's accounting system just a bit.

Sooo either this is a mistake or I'm moving to a villa in the south of France.

I'm gonna sell games for free as well.... ;D Lucrative business. And btw, your Shivah is the most viewed page on my site since saturday.. :)
Hehe. I think they're like you have been paying for the game people bought from you. So I indeed bought a game from you with you generously paying for it yourself. :=
I just downloaded it after stumbling about, I had no idea this offer was even on til I reached your website!
So the question is, they've worked out you've got 32 million dollars what not, is this an accurate representation of your account? ;) If the game's been going for free, how come its racking up the profits - or is it assuming people are still paying the 4.99?
I paid 1p for it, cos I used PayPal, so not a bad deal at all! ;) Anyway, quick, bank the money and lend me a tenner!!1
Hah. No. It's obviously an accounting mistake. The free offer increased traffic to the webstore by, well, a lot. I dunno what happened, but the traffic evidently knocked something out of whack. But still, it gave me quite a shock to see that number!
Yay, ;D Haha. That's one hell of a cock-up. How does one sign up for Plimus? ;)
If it's not to much of a personal question, Dave, roughly how many units have you "sold" since the game offer started?
This sounds like the start of some elaborate fraud scheme... which culminates in you buying an island and hiring a security force.

Ah, damn!! Well, no need to make fun of US the poor people.. go buy an island!
By the way, I checked prices... $10 per game is not something extraordinary ofc. I enjoyed "Blackwell" games art much (on screenshots - that is ;) ) If I like "Shivah", maybe I'll try to overcome my greed irrational fear of paying online and really buy something from you. :)
Don't shove your fame and wealth in our faces, David. ;)
It's okay, he forgot to blank out his account details so now I'M a billionaire! And so is my email pen-pal Mr Ahmed Caranjuna from the Federal Bank of Africa. Woooooo!
If this turns out to be true I hope you use your newfound wealth to establish the Dave Gilbert Institute for the Advancement of Adventure Games, and give us all scholarships, and people would call us Dave's projectees.

That would be amazing, we could finally moderate the use of 'adventure game' as a genre.

I prefer the term
"human experiments."
He could buy out all the 1st person adventure game companies and recycle them into green energy!!

I'm a billionaire now
Hello my name is Sahjid Omad and I am director of Bank of Nigeria. Recently you have received inheritance of 84 billion USD from the prince of Nigeria. All we need are your bank details......
;D
Ok maybe your not rich, but at least congrats on the massive amount of downloads you've acheived.
Maybe now you can steal Apple's tagline " Gilbert's Wadj Store. Over a billion downloads" ;)
Hah. I see how this happened, now. I had neglected to check the "1 coupon per email" box, and a few jokers decided to order a few million copies of the game. So, sadly, this means no french villas for me!
As for the folks who "bought" these millions of licenses, I hope the links don't get emailed to him individually. All they will get are a million identical links to a URL which will expire at midnight tonight.
I've been getting laugh mileage out of this ALL DAY. How should I spend my hypothetical billions?
I got 4 of the same email from you...SPAMMER!!!!!!11 ::) Hope you still managed a good few human downloads too over the weekend Dave!
This would make me a millionaire! I'm expecting my check soon.
Alas, Plimus discovered the bug and the store is displaying the proper amount now. I'm glad I have that screencap!
