Okay, after a good night's rest I'm feeling better, but I must have hurt a muscle in my stomach or something because I can't stand up straight or walk without feeling a terrible pain. I'm glad it didn't happen during Mittens.
It's nice to be back, one week was a good length for Mittens, although I wouldn't have minded staying another week. The camping site was good although it would have been nice if we could've gotten one big tent-spot somehow instead of being spread out. The food we got at the campsite was pretty crummy, but the nice restaurants in town made up for it and the ouzo (sp?) was nice as well (as long as you didn't mix it with water ;) ).
Overall I've really enjoyed this past week and it was great meeting everybody from Mittens 2003 again as well as Grundislav, Disco, Lorena and Dominika.
Thanks alot for organizing this year's Mittens, Helm!
Y'all are back already? Golly, don't time flies. Ah well, that way I didn't really have time to miss you guys too much. :)
I got back home an hour ago too. My socks smell bad, hair is greasy, I'm tired and hungry but I have never had as much fun as I had at Mittens.
m0ds'll probably post the lists of highlights and quotes when he gets back, but to mention few:
- "Professor <insert name>, professor <insert name>..."
- 1000 blank cards
- Joe the Stool!
Pictures to follow!1
Here's my photo collection:

Welcome back guys. I hope you had a good time. I'm sorry that I couldn't be there, but it looks like I'll be stuck in Canada for another couple of months. Looking forward to hear about the trip - from the photos it seemed great. Oh yeah, and Goldmund's girlfriend is really cute :)
She is indeed... but what about Farl's gf? >:(
Um, it's actually Goldmund's wife already ;-) And she's much cuter in toxic green swimming goggles, everyone may testify.
And come on, Farl, you know Lorena's a cutepie! We have great photos of her doing this ballet routine (post them soon).
My second Mittens experience was as fantastic as the first one, and big thank you to Helm for making it possible to happen.
And I liked the food at the camp! Lots of meat! Alas, the idea of cooking potatoes in vinegar doesn't appeal to me.
Discussions at the beach and at the restaurants... seafood... home wine... sleeping at the seashore under myriad of stars (although they were only cheap replicas, I couldn't find the most common constellations! Scandal!)... eh, it was sad to leave, in fact, Dominika even cried when we got to Athens!
I urge M0ds to post the highlights list! And everybody - photos!
Edit: Chrille, make sure if it's not appendix which hurts you!
Mittens was good, I have to think of the week rather than the trip though. It has been a bit gnarly getting around, but it has been worth it overall (though I might need to do something to get myself deported just to get home :) :'( >:( ) Hehe, I don't mean to drag down the topic but I might leave tomorrow at 0800.
I'll post properly later, but highlights for me were nightly fires, starry beach sleeping, "TELL ME!!", and the food not being as bad as others may affirm.
My super-favourite quotes this week were:
"Ken (Disco), I really can't open my tent"- drunk AGA
"You could slash it's throat at the point of orgasm"- scotch
Mmhmm.
http://scotch.agagames.com/mittens05/ here are my photos.
Mittens was so great, my photos don't cover much of it.
D: Disco, very D:
My photos are up, http://www.americangirlscouts.org/chrille/petteri/ http://custardsclutter.com/petesmittens2005/
I too would like to thank you, Helm, for organising the whole thing, you did great job! And everyone else, it was awesome to meet all of you. The campsite was neat (though cold spaghetti + wasps != good) and Greece was a great place to visit.
Christopher Walken's pick up line: "Hello. You want me to eat you? No? Then have sex with me!"
EDIT: I uploaded bigger photos, same link!

I like Lorena's hair! But, uh, I'm not sure, because there's Helm's hair... which one is more beautiful?! ???
:P
Hmm, I think that mine quote of the week would be:
"For spanish every sentences is funny!"
Good to hear you all had a good time. It's nice loking at the photos and seeing what happened.
I am also back!!
It was great to meet you all again, bask in the Greek heat and regail stories of how kids were much more respectful in our day. I thoroughly enjoyed the week!
Getting onto the plane back in Athens heat, and getting off it to a cold rainy evening at Heathrow was one of the most depressing moments ever ;)
Thanks to Helm for organising everything and being our translator; thanks to m0ds for running the quiz and for starting Mittens in the first place; and thanks to everyone for coming!
Thanks to Grundislav and Disco for making the trek over from the US, I hope it was worth it ;)
Nice photos so far everyone; mine are here:

I wish I could've been there to annoy CJ and make him drive me around for hours. Only he probably didn't bring his car so I would've had to mount wheels on my recliner, wouldn't I? Andail looks as photoshopped as ever. And I really wanted to beat Farlander in a downhill bike race. Oh well. Dreams are meant to be fullfilled. Just you wait!
Ahh, if only I could come, too :( It is the most depressing the Mittens was held so close to my country, but I couldn't come ._.

I am yet to decide whether to take this as a compliment or an insult :)
Mittens 2005 was as great as ever. Helm did a great job on hosting it. The only bad thing was that I was a bit ill during most of the week, with a bit of fever towards the end. Then again, this made me less disappointed about the slight lack of physical activites. Now I could join in with most people's favourite activity - to sit or lie down - without feeling restless and impatient :)
Meeting Petteri, Lorena and Disco were only positive surprises, Lorena was happy and communicative despite her not speaking English (luckily I know many Spanish words myself), Disco was hilariuos and a really colourful personality.
Today I looked through old pictures from mittens 02-03, and it was fun to see how people have changed through the years. Especially the younger members, who have undergone great changes since the days of Staines and Orust.
So, cheers to Helm, mittens and ourselves.
Time for some photoshopping! (PNGs, transparent background)

Oh my god there is an "The Astonishing Flying Ringâ,,¢" in that girls head!
I thought that there was no need to say something nice about Mittens '05, because I pressumed it was assumed. But hey... here it goes. Let's start with the new ones:
Disco is Kindness made into flesh. I don't think there's need to say more. I hope that my English next year will be better to enjoy completelly the accent from Michigan.
Do you know that feeling you have when you like someone a lot and start caring for him too much? Even in an irrational way? That happened to me with Goldmund, and, even trusting in his intelligence for a good choice, I was a little afraid for Dominika.
A photographer from Warsaw? Let's hope she is not an ellitist snob! It should be a pitty to see my funny polish friend becoming too serious because her boring wife is in the vicinity!
That fear lasted like... 0.2 seconds after meeting Nika. She is like a little girl, lovely and pure. She even signs with a smiley! :D I am a little in love with Nika! :-*
I must say that if she cried when they left Athens I dropped a tear as well when their taxi left., sorry, behaved like a rude man and showed no feelings at all. (thanks sunglasses!) ;)
Goldmundus... I think that you, better than anyone, must know that some things can't be written propperly. :) Palenie Zabija!
Grundislav... Mi amigo de Miami! Viva el Ron, el Oûzo y las mujeres! arrange some gloves with Darthie in Florida and I'll be there!
Petteri is close to Disco in the Kidness championship... And his Goldlagoon looks soooo cool...
About the others... I am quite happy to understand better the brits than the previous year.
Therefore, I've discovered a very special sense of humour in Chris Q___? Jones, and that Portmouth FC rocks, thanks Tom. Adam needs a special mention, Lorena and me annoyed him as an in-joke, but he allways replied in a very sensible and humorous way.
Scotch finally talks, weeeee! Looking for a Spanish gf for him!
Berian is a wel of knowleadge in reference to AGS and games in general... And he emotioned us singing the welsh Anthem.
M0ds is M0ds, marky Mint, no need to say more!
The Swedish... well, I consider Petter a deep friend, don't really know why... I hope he feels the same. 2ma2 is intelligence and talent. And Chrille is... soooo sweet! ^_^ If you were expecting an arrogant guy behing Pleughburgh... you were wrong.
Helm is part of the Beatles band who climbed that Swedish Island in 2003... I think he knows what could I write of him, so, I won't bother to do it...
And then it's Jet... I had a bitter exchange of posts with him. But he left saying "Adiós mi amigo español". You had to be there to realise it was true ^_^ one of the best moments in Mittens for me... See you in 2006.
I returneth! FINALLY!
What is there to say that hasn't been said already? I had an amazing time at Mittens this year. There were so many great things that happened, and it was great seeing everyone from last year and meeting the new people.
I am pretty jet-lagged and also on dialup, so I will have to sort my photos and stuff this weekend. Watch this space, though!
Dears AGSer:
I have many photos for your enjoyment ;D. Tomorrow I'll try to upload it.
Mittens has been so funny and I have liked a lot of the friendship that there is since the first moment among all.
CJ, the proximo year I will manage to know your second name. :o I have washed you the hat for the next Mittens.
:-* :-* :-*
Lorena
I'm glad to see everybody liked mittens. I apologize again for the campsite woes, I hope the unpleasant stuff will fade away and only the awesomity will remain. Sorry I did not accompany you to the parthenon, but I've seen it a gazillion times, and it was out of the way.
I was very glad to meet up with veteran mitteneers and new people alike. Disco is a cool guy, Glodmnu's wife, Dominica is an excellent person and Lore can if she wants, can come back to greece and live with me as my personal servant instead of being stuck with Farl. Petteri who I never met before was very nice and his games look awesome. Grund was a big surpize for me because while I never had any problems with his internet persona, in real life he's a million times better. This seems like an insult of some sort but it isn't! I was very pleasantly surprized. Scotch came out of his shell a lot, and it's cool because he's a funny, smart guy. Now he's off to join a club, or something. Jerk. Farl, Andail, Glodmnu and myself rekindled ye olde Swittens '02 nonsensical broken english hilarity. nothing of the magnitude of 'You are very smart' or 'Use your brown eye' was mentioned, but bits and pieces were hysterical. There was much adventure gaming discussion, and most people left inspired to make things. I know scotch, myself, grundy and chrille are working on games directly or indirectly influenced by the stuff talked about. Seriously, besides the funny stuff, if someone was to keep notes, the game theory discussions would make the basis of a good resource I think. As far as wealth of information and stimulating discussion goes, Grittens was awesome.
There's so much these pictures cannot capture (and also a lot of stuff that they SHOULDN'T have - I'm looking at you, whoever took the picture of mod's nuts). Now that the tiredness has faded all that I can remember is how much I enjoyed your company. I wish there could be teleporters so we could hop in and have mittens whenever we feel like it, without 231256 hours of insanely tiresome travelling. Just make sure you don't give the teleportation details to Esseb.
Mods will post his highlights/midlights/lowlights list soon, along with his pictures I hope. Dominica, being a professional photographer should also grace the thread with a few developed ones! They are - would you believe it - for an article that Glodmnu was supposed to research on his trip to Greece, hah I have taken no photos sans those taken with my HEART CAMERA and the film in that one will never be develop... what am I saying?
Spainttens next year is a very strong possibility, and the rates will be cheap, Farl promises a nice place ( with no annoying screaming children like this time. It's not my fault they can't contain their painful yelps when I punched them! ) and so no excuses! Everybody should come.
I'd like to thank all the people that answered the Mittens call this year. It's been a priviledge. Thank you so much. I love you. I love you, but I hate what you stand for.
Looks like you had a great time. Wish I could have gone. Might be at the 2007 or 2008 mittens. Hopefully :)
YEY! Well, that took a little while longer than expected to get back online but after metallic airport keyboards its good to be back to a plastic one... Thank you tommeh for your recommendation of AVG free anti virus which has helped a great deal. Now I should look into a commercial product, and sometime before buying it - earn enough to afford it :P I've had along sleep in a comfortable bed, I did try posting after this thread had reached 2 posts but teh virus crashed my PC before I got to post (hopefully this one will see its way through to the end!!).. I have all the photos of what I can only describe as an excellent holiday!! Sun, sand, peachy peachy by the pool - what more could you ask for :D Visiting the ruins on the last day and being back at home the same day is an awesome feeling!
The company lacked though :P Nah, everyone ruled! That goes without saying really, it was nice to meet Disco, Dominika & of course La Lore - it was nice of Farlander to offer to draw me some backgrounds too :D ;) in exchange for the coding of you know what, of course..
Though I was quite tired some nights, when people slept out on the beach, every night was great fun - chilling on the beach (after being kicked out of the "lounge"), having fires and drisocialiasing. :)
It appears my pc is okay at the moment so I'll have the photos and quotes up shortly!!!11 theres milliuuuns of them and first I want to look at other people's :D THANK YOU Helm for all your organising of this trip, all the Greek you had to speak for us (I don't think anyone could say more than thank you, and one of us couldn't even say that ;)) - and it was a good thing the transport police spoke English on the last day too! Hehehe

Wow, watching these pictures really makes you feel... funny. Almost as if you'd have been there, although I am sure for you who have actually been there, they don't express that much... Nice pictures everyone, I am happy everyone had a good time and came back safely.
You called the dog Steve? Bastards!
Steve was the dog's name! It said so on his tag.
We called him Acropolis Steve.
Those pictures are great, La Lore... specially the ones of the acropolis; they're wallpaper quality. I wish I was there. :'(

I whipped up this quickly, only to annoy CJ. :P
(PS. if anyone knows the name of the original song, let me know!)
Petteri, that's just pure evil!! I'd finally managed to get that stupid song out of my head and now you've gone and shoved it right back in ;)
If anyone does know what the original song is called, please do let us know so that we can go round to the artist's house and dispense some justice.
Nice pics by the way, Lorena :)
Oh, and Mills, please don't read anything into that moment I shared with scotch. It meant nothing, you're still the one for me.
Great pictures everyone. I still have a ton more to look at. Looks like it was another awesome Mittens. I still feel bad i couldn't make it to last years in NY. I'd love to meet all of you.
I'm off to look at more pics.
I made it home finally! :D There are many photos to sort out for later but I have a few for now plus two videos (no sound).

Dear M0ds:
I have read the quantity of stupid things that everybody said in a week. Personally, I believe that Greece causes speaks rarely to the people... with me included.
It was I seated in the Peachy, Peachy when Nacho told me: "I like the bees because they do honey" and I answered him: "THE BEES DO HONEY, THE WASPS DO MARMITE"
I believe this phrase can be added to the list of QUOTES.
:-* :-* :-*
Lorena
Hehe, thanks for posting those m0ds ;)
Right, the Mittens titles should now be updated. If you came to mittens and yours is wrong please say so, I'm sure I'll have made a cock up somewhere.
Mine says Mittens Initiate... I would suppose that only has to do with people who host or thought up Mittens in the first place.
Maybe I should be Mittens n00b

I think it means Initiate as in newbie :=
Yes, just to clarify, the new titles are based on how many Mittens you have attended:
4 -- Mittens Guru
3 -- Mittens Fundamentalist
2 -- Mittens Faithful
1 -- Mittens Initiate
And M0ds has the special "Mittens founder" title, no? :) Cool.
Maybe one of these days we'll have a "Banned from Mittens" title. :P

Okay, my pics are up. It was significantly less complicated than I imagined it would be.

Ha! Some excellent photos there, Grundy... I'm jealous that you guys got to go up into Satan's tower and check out the views! Or, from the photo - "view", of a street. :p My photos are still "pending", almost ready - typing a lot of [img] in a txt document first though to ensure the post goes through :p It's also a kind of travel diary so it might take another coupla days. Heh, also great to see Chris failing at his card-castle :D
Lorena - you're right! I missed that quote, I don't think it was written down in the notepad :o
Yeah, nice piccies everyone. I too am writing a Mittens report travel diary type thing, for the AGS ezine, but am very eager to see your travel diary, m0ds! And if I'm not mistaken you got some memoriable photos, can't wait to see them.
Hmm, I *think* Grundislav took a video of Dark Stalkey and Helm's robot dance... someone did! Upload!
Here are some of my personal highlights, not included in m0ds' list:
- Arriving Athens airport, finding only AGSers I hadn't met earlier, and them recognising me
- Crappy Juice
- Chris Quest
- (especially) Helm's comments and advice on my games
- How are you gentlemen? What you say?
- All game related and game developing discussions with various people
(http://www.locustleaves.com/nazi.jpg)
Helm, that is as hilarious as it is non-flattering.
You know too much, Helm!
Meet me in a dark alley close to your house tonight, I promise I won't have you killed or anything.
Hahaha! Great Helm! & speaking of Chrille, I can't believe you captured m0dp0rn! You naughty pervert!1 :o My travel diary is okay, but starts to fizzle out to single sentances with photos, so I'm interested to read yours in the zine Petteri.
I was back about a week ago, but not until TODAY, have I set up my evil command post complete with dial up connection.
Beware..
Mittens was, as presumed, a travel into memory lane. It was very nice to meet the wonderous people of the midst once again. CJ with his dry and subtle approach to life. Farlander who in ever way represent the best parts of humanity - cheer, laughter and the best sense of humour I've come across. Chrille whose whole appearance, despite his nazi tendencies cleverly pointed out above, is a devil packed as angelic bliss. It is hard to see the gory creations in that mild temper. Adam who is simply a really good sport and mate. Petteri, who was very finnish, but in a good sense ;) And all other people aswell, Andail, AGA, Helm, Glod, Scotch who in comparison with Swittens was a whole new persona, Tom, the Americans, both really nice people even though I can't decide who dancest cooler. La Lore and Mrs. Glod we're also nice as possible, even though the spaniard found it amusing to gang up with Farl and starepsyche me... but ye can't outpsyche the psycho! Muahaha! And let's not forget Mods whome above all else masters the chill and cool of being Mods. Simply a great mate in every sense, and if I we're a female frog, God knows what I'd do.. Jetxl ofcourse, almost even chiller, and a lovely attitude. Loved the gift! Thank you so much!
Cheers!
I didn't realise I had photographed m0dporn until the images were uploaded! AGA censored it and kept the original for himself!
Edit: Also, does anyone have the cards for the 1000 Blank Cards game we played on saturday? If so, could he/she please scan and upload them?

Hint: the answer rhymes with "Bisco"
I suppose I've gotten a few quips in without adding anything of real substance, so here goes:
Aside from some travel issues to and from, the Greek adventure was most satisfying. From approaching CJ at Heathrow to saying goodbye to Petteri at Athens airport, plenty of special memories were collected and are being preserved. At first I thought it would be awkward meeting people from the forums, at least for the first few hours. This was not the case as I never had the feeling that I was meeting strangers.
The campsite was fine and the AGS Lounge provided excellent accomodation for 18 Mitteners to chat and play the 1000 blank cards. It was nice and even a little relaxing having a sort of agreed upon structure throughout the week. Everyday would begin with campy lunch, then a trip to the beach, AGS Lounge, going into the village for an hour and a half dinner, supply-securing at the market, looking for firewood for the inevitable beachy fire and upbeat shenanigans.
Apart for m0ds' list, I have my personal range of mentionables:
HighlightsPre-Mittens meetup with Iqu
Pre-Mittens peeing on the sidewalk in front of Kensington Palace State Apartments
Sleeping on the beach, waking in time to see the sunrise
People(person)-drunk-on-ouzo watching
Ambitious wasps
Mild blasphemy at the Agora
Lowlights2.5 days at Heathrow
Marmite
"28 euro, 28 euro, 28 euro..."
2.5 days at Athens airport
Quotes(Pre-Mittens) "*mouths inaudibly*", "Can you sign my friend's shirt? He's American" and "This is London!" - Iqu
"__ ___ ______ __ __________" - Grundislav (too embarrassing)
"You all play like a bunch of drunk babies" - Andail
'Twas a spectacular week overall, though bookended by the true essence on horror (Only fly Swiss as a last resort). Looking back now it was quite fun- the British Airways strike led me to meeting a cool female from Yukon Territories, discovering the awesomeness that is Nate James, and meeting up with the brits a day sooner. Swiss cancelling my ticket home, however antipatico, spawned another interesting situation- My only choice to get home was to be on standby for a few days since all flights were full. I found one seat on a BA flight that would get me to London in time for my flight home, but it was about â,¬80 more than I had. Not to be put off, I utilised Athens airport's free internet, logged onto #ags and had SSH call 3,000 miles to my aunt who had to call my mom to tell her to put the required money in my account. I felt like I was organising a globally coordinated extraction from Greece! :D Hehe, sucks at first but if I had to do it over again I would.
To make a short story long, Mittens was neato.
EDIT- Here is my group photo-

Damn... Petter is so sexy in his photosopped tuxedo...
Disco; well, you have that intruiging pole dancing which is hotter than the path we trodded to the sekkrit beach, but you have seen Grundislavs avatar have you not. And boy oh boy, it is as impressive IRl aswell..
But robot dance beats you alls0r..
I tried to make a Mittens music video using the video clips and Haddas' mental welcome to mittens song, but all the decent AVI files wouldn't load into Premiere :(

Okay, you win Grundislav, I will reveal.
The Amazing Mystery Quote is-TADA!:
'My mom caught me masturbating"- Grundislav
:o
You should be more carfeful! My sister
almost caught me once, but I had a plan B. The trick is to have some sort of contingency plan in place.
When did Grund tell that? I missed it, shit! :-\ Which was the context, Good Lord!?!
And Francisco... Use door lockers! :D
We were telling embarrassing stories at the pizza place (the night Farlander got drunk on ouzo) in order to get scotch to tell us something.
And I've learned my lesson since then!
How do you make up a contingency plan for that scenario anyhow.
Also, the easiest way to avoid such situations is to never masturbate ofcourse, you filthy boys. And I do say "boys" because we all know girls never masturbate. Yup.
I'm a girl and I masturbate.
btw I found 1kbwc but I ain't scanning any time soon.
Aww, I missed embarassing stories because I was sitting in the other end of the table. But at least I got to see Chris Quest!
2ma2, I finally saw Battle Royale as you suggested, it was very good!
There's a difference in being a girl and a shemale. There, it is said.
Battle Royale was pretty cool, but the sequel was the most horrible piece of crap I've ever had the misfortune to witness.
PS: I also missed the embarrasing stories moment. I demand a full transcript of everything mentioned there!
It was just a bunch of embarrasing moment reruns. I'd heard them before at the previous Mittenses and on this board I think. I want my money back!
I was just Grundislav and I swapping stories of getting caught in compromising situations to loosen scotch up for the telling. No dice.
What we did get: Scotch is being made to join any club of his choice. The offender is a female who is neither his mother nor a cop. Why he must join a club and who exactly is making him is still up in the air. :D
the club situation is over, it seems. So scotch says. But on other news, scotch is is love with a FAT LADY
so when and where will mittens 2006 be?
Like it says in the thread directly below this one, (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=22375.80), it is going to be in Benidorm, probably in the last week of August.
My photo's.

Caption competition anyone?
It looks like "We are where?"
to meÃ, :-\
Is that pic special for Lorena's pose? :D We considered it very funny too! :D
I'm terribly late here :P but here are two photos
(http://custardsclutter.com/CNV00014.JPG)
This guy was just walking along with a guitar.. after stopping him, he put his keys, phone etc away and played us a tune :D
(http://custardsclutter.com/CNV00015.JPG)
Hehe, that guy owned the small store near the bus stop. I tried to buy a bottle of water but he didn't have any change to give back! Then he closed the store, took his guitar and wandered off. And I had to wait until we got back to the airport to get a drink. That guy played us a tune, I remember that, but I don't remember which tune it was.
Also, I should mention that my Mittens report IS finished, but the next next issue of the AGS ezine is heavily delayed.
Alsoalso, Dominika? Goldmund? Any chance to see your photos?
I haven't put all mine up yet either. There are a few gems in there, believe. If I did not have to pay for photothumb I would have had them up ages ago. I know there is the trial version, but I have 130 pictures, not 13 >:(
At least we have videos. Should I put up the one where I'm changing my pants (<--American version) in front of hundreds of people at the airport? Wait! What am I asking for, of course I will :D.

Haha, great, just great. *points everyone* "28 euros, 28 euros, 28 euros!" Definately one of the highlights.
Yes quite funny, but the even higher-light was that he trusted us to go upstairs and pay 28 euros each, when infact we walk right out the door :D.
If I remember correctly he said that there's usually a 28 euro fee but that he would make an exception for us and then told us to get a ticket for the subway upstairs.
Yes, what Chrille said. Luckily we were supposed to get off on that station so basically we got a free ride!
They probably just didn't like the fact that m0ds was taking pictures of them on the subway. You know how those Greeks are about cameras...THEY CAPTURE YOUR SOUL!
Was this the luxurious subway ride to the airport? You needed expensive tickets after the train went past one station.
We got to know this by accident so we had ours, but several foreigners got severely spanked for going to the airport with regular subway tickets. Naive souls!
It was a subway ride from central athens (I think) to the Acropolis. Thing is, there was a sign at the airport that claimed tickets from the airport to the city were valid on the subway too.
Cocky tourists who try to refer to unheard of regulation clauses in some foreign langauge, one of which documents the whole thing with a digi-cam....it's a wonder they didn't just nail us to some tree.
At long last (though honestly only a few hours late) my photos find their way online.
Behold my side of the story of Mittens here:

Though the timeline seems to have gone out of kilter ... did we really visit the airport in the middle of our trip to the secret beachÃ, :=
And finally, what more can be said:

Yeah, I promise next time they will be in time order. I was in such dismay that I did not bother with any commentary. :'(

So eh.
Mittens report. (http://koti.mbnet.fi/hurjat/mittens/)
This comes a bit late, but not much!
That's a really fun report, Peterri! Thanks for posting it up, I really enjoyed reading it! Hahahaha :D More comments when Im less tired though! Promise to have mine up soon, too :) *sleeps*
Hehe, very nicely written ... thanks for posting that, brings back memories of those hot summer nights in Greece :)
Here it is! Lots of people have been awaiting my photos from Greece, and I apologise for the delay! I've been reaally reallly busy & presenting it this way has been a bit of a mission....but as I said in the past, posting late helps bring back memories ;)
The sign advertised the last bus to Terminal 4 at 23:30. I was there
in good time but it never showed, a bus fifteen minutes later arrived
and took me to the Central Bus Station at Heathrow. There, I asked the
driver what the deal was with a ride to Terminal 4. He replied; "Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh mate,
why would I go to a Terminal that's closed? The last bus there is at 10pm."
So it was 1am, nowhere near terminal 4, (which is apparently closed anyway)
and no tobacco. After exploring the terminal tunnels under Terminal 2 & 3,
my path to Terminal 4 was blocked - the only way to it was a metro-system,
closed until 5.25am... Which caused concern, seen as the flight was scheduled
to leave an hour later. I didn't walk it from Terminal 2 either, cos would
probably be 2 miles away, in a direction I never knew existed - and my rucksack was heavy, too.
SO I KIP ON TEH FLOOR.
At 5.10am a woman awakes me and the doors to the metro-system were open,
so I made my way to the platform and awaited on a train for 15 minutes or
so. When it arrived, and I trundled round to Terminal 4 to the delights of
fast moving destination shots on TV screens inside the cabin. At the depatures
area I bumped into AGA, CJ, Scotch, Dark Stalkey, Custard & Disco - all at the
front of the queue, so hahrahrha I went to the front too. So it all worked out
quite nicely timed, although AGA and co had been trying to call me, thinking I
had perhaps pulled out :p (I didn't take my mobile, I thought I'd be in terminal
4 at 1am1!). Anyway.
Disco hadn't organised something, or they hadn't gotten something
straight with him. So they called airport security & he was taken
away immediatley.
The flight to Geneva with British Airways was pleasent. Of course, the
catering polava had been continuing at Heathrow, so instead of in-flight
service - we were able to grab packs of food from a table at Heathrow.
I took a few. They had crackers and kitkats and stuff. Mmmmm. Stuff
GateGourmet, I prefer the "grab what you want" method. :D Some people
played Poker in Geneva (I tried, but failed) - and then we flew on to
GREECE!
And this was one of the first things we saw after lots of mountains, sea
& a billion houses and clouds. Athens international airport! Soon to be AGS International Airport! :p
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/pokerinathensairport.jpg)
So the poker resumes, and Disco comes out of a door marked "interrogation".
Just how he got to Greece we'll never know, but the main thing is he's happy
& well - and has returned*.
Scotch plays artistic chess, whilst Helm plays with hith hair.
HELM SPEAKS!!
Ben Jordan arrives! Disco held up a sign to greet him, sadly I
was in the wrong place to capture it. :p
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/farlanderandlalorearrive.jpg)
A smiley happy welcome and hello from Farlander & La Lore, as they arrive
deep into the night whilst a few of us are half asleep in the busy airport
atmosphere & half way up an escalator on a trolley in our heads because of it.
Some are sleepier than others.
Awwwww! See.
People dropping off everywhere.
2ma2 arrives!
The next morning, or it may have been two mornings later - I can't
remember now, whenever we finally managed to leave the airport**, we
couldn't get through to Goldmund! Here's Helm trying, I don't
think he's pressing the right button. :p SO WE LEFT WITHOUT HIM.
And arrived in ATHENS, courtesy of the airport-athens bus. Here
is a typical back street in Athens. This area of Athens seemed
quite modern and "finished". They really do play up the "ruins"
aspect over there, in some areas some buildings seem to be left
, as if to get them to put themselves up :p
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/kapboya-highangle.jpg)
See Grundislav's picture for a Matrix style effect :D
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/halkida.jpg)
Here is another typical street in Al Q'eada, another bus stop
on our journey to Agia Anna Beach!
Helm sits around. waits.
It's a bus depot.
Looks like someone else is waiting for Xenogia to hurry up, too....
ANYWAY...
Jet & myself enjoy the sights & sounds of Halkida.
Mmmmmmmm, tuck in Chris! Well - there isn't much that can be said about a bus depot. It was exceptionally hot, and I was just eager to head on to Agia Anna, through the mountains & to the camp-site!
There were lots of lucious colours! The bus had to climb one huge mountain, it took about an hour to get up and hour to get down it because of the winding road system. This system also proved to be quite dangerous, safety barriers along the high road existed - but were more frequently damaged than they were intact. On the last day at the camp-site, on the way back from the campsite to the bus-stopÃ, we saw a car that had gone off the road. Luckily not off the MOUNTAIN road! ._.
This was a typical view from the bus on the way to the campsite!
Ten miles on and somehow we're still passing the same bit of mountain :p
Finally we make it to the camp-site! It's hot, there's wasps and the third taxi has disappeared! But soon it arrives and everyone is eager to get in, put up their tents and explore. A little later, Goldmund appears out of nowhere and cleverly recognises me. I show him to his camping spot and soon every AGSer is there to watch in wonder as Goldmund puts up his tent. However, he struggles a little and everyone tries to lend a hand. 18 AGSers later and it's still not up... :P
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/18agserstoputupatent.jpg)
Finally, it's up! But no-one is quite sure how it got there.
That night it was time for some serious socialising! The crew headed for the beach,
just a hundred metres away from the campsite - past an aids ridden dog.
Discussion POV:
Enough of the beach - everyone floats back to the campsite.
The next evening, we decided to have a bit of a walk along the beach and find a restaraunt of some kind to eat in. This Greek bar seemed like the perfect place with a very nice view!
Everbody enjoys reading the menu...
It just wouldn't Mittens without a little bad-spelling... :P
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/seefoodonthemenu.jpg)
Unfortunately, 17 of us couldn't speak Greek to order our food - thankfully one of us could. Helm proceeded to place everyones order. Cheers man!
Then we EAT! & by jove did we eat a LOT! Spot the Drum Gold on location in Greece.
Mmmmmm, Disco gives in and eats 2ma2...
It had become apparent by this point that one of the comical items joining us on our trip to Greece was CJ's chef-like hat, which he says he bought at Tesco for 2.99, though we know really that he just swiped it off the delicatesent counter ;) None the less, it does the rounds. Firstly Scotch tries it on for size.
Then AGA
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/berianincjhat.jpg)
Lorena models the hat...
and so does a member of staff at the restaraunt.
Using our 1337 adventure game sk1ll0rz, a fire is started that evening (which seems to spur the interest of other holidaymakers and beachgoers, who then start lots of fires down the beach - which looks cool, because theres a fire every half mile down!!!)
I had the honour of sleeping with Tom in the tent, and poor Disco who had travelling through various airports wound up in...our porch. With no sleeping bag, no mat - nothing. Yet somehow, he seemed quite content?
After Berian's big drink up, brawl & fall - he wouldn't awake easily the next day.
That morning, more interesting things are happening: CJ, at first glance, drinks some brain:
The crew chat and laugh, though we know at the back of their minds they're wondering when the next wasp will strike...
So to clear our minds of paranoia - Goldmund decides to put a chair on Helm's head, and mystically levitate a water bottle above the chair. "I sense voodoo!"
My Greek way:
A drink I won't ever be drinking again - though I know Dominika & Goldmund love their Frappe's!
Anyway - enough drinking and smoking - it's time for some swimming! However, not everyone packed the right clothes:
Oh well - that never stopped Goldmund! :P
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/sexyswimsuit2.jpg)
The water was nice and warm, this year there weren't jelly fish every square foot - and so swimming was pleasent and fun. Here's a POV!
I now love Greece!
We dominated the campsite, and elected a special corner for card playing, discussion and other activities! Cheetos were a popular choice of food...well for me, especially!
And THEN we had the idea to play basketball! But in true adventure game fashion, there were obstables!
Even though we USE Andail WITH Reception Staff, they were never overcome. :(
Instead - it was time for the much awaited Mittens Arm Wrestle Championships!!!!
(Petteri & Helm)
(2ma2 & Disco)
(Scotch & Tom - careful you don't snap, Scotch! :p)
(CJ & Andail)
(2ma2 & Helm)
(The final - Andail & 2ma2)
The end of another energetic day, and although I was feeling rough (I had suffered some kind of tummy bug, but Cheetos put me right) we all headed off to find somewhere to eat. Despite being turned down at one joint, we soon found another who were happy to cater for 18 rowdy bastards...
"Eeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!"
Poor old Chris, surrounded by all his fans - I think he felt a little suspicious of some!
AND SO HE SHOULD! :P
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/cjstabbed.jpg)
Hehehehe! You've been waiting for that one, right Petteri? :P
The next day it was time to venture off to unexplored land. A mini-bus took people every so often to a "secret beach", so we all clambered aboard and awaited our express delivery. However, an argument broke out between the bus driver & Helm. Helm won, of course.
(CJ makes sure everyone stays calm)
(Everyone is confused)
On arrival at the secret beach, Chris is presented with a dangerous feat - will he jump? Or will he just fall? :P
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/jumpchris.jpg)
Luckily he made it, and teh not so sekrit beach was found!!!!
A few comments were made on how the secreat beach was actually a screen from Myst...
Luckily, food was inclusive at the campsite. Wasp ridden meals were available in the evening or at lunch, whichever you wanted. Campers were given tokens to use to get this food, and so we entrusted Helm with all our tokens.
Kindly, he took them for a swim, and made them void.
Hehehehe :P (It's okay, he got more for us!)
Hats of to 2ma2... To reach the secret beach, you had to walk up and over a rocky hill. It was only a half mile trek, but Linus didn't wear shoes. Respect!
After our visit to the beach of Myst, we stopped off at a little cafe to refill. Nacho enjoys a drink...
Then, Commander Far Lander contacts his co-pilot, Lorena:
As I was unable to catch "the argument" on camera, I made sure we had some proof of the crazy bus drivers antics. Unfortunately, he wasn't going ape in this picture - but still managed to pull off a pretty good Vin Diesel impression.
Then it was onto the gaming part. Several documents went around, including information on Station in Space, Try Not To Breathe and various other WIP's...
Another evening, another fire - only this time, we burn Grundislav...
(He did some great recitals!)
BUDDY SHOTS(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/snapm0dstom.jpg)(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/snapm0dspetteri.jpg)(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/snapm0dsfarllore.jpg)

Unfortunately, after that final drunken night on the beach - it was time to leave. Some were able to look around the Devil's church, and go up into the bell tower. I missed out on that, doh!
Waiting....waiting.......man it's hot....I could go for a popsicle right now...
On the way back to Athens, CJ got the best seat on the bus...
Apparently Greek welcomes YOUR myth! Not so sure they'd have mine though, it's a bit crude!!
BUT WAIT! Our holiday didn't end there!!!!! Oh no! We managed to get several hours in Athens before having to head home... We made our way to the subway...
There, we waited for ours to arrive. However once on board, things got a little sketch - and we soon became suspected Al Q'aeda terrorists...
We were THIS close to getting arressted! In the end he realised we weren't terrorists and cautioned us for using the wrong tickets...
We made it! To the Acropolis and other ancient ruins!
Some of us couldn't afford to go to the larger ruins. Students got in free but not all of us had valid proof, so we walked round in search of a secret entrance. We never found one, and decided to go and look at the "free" ruins...
Everyone looks up to Chris...t.
I enjoy the sights...
And just in case people think we photoshopped those temples in, here's proof that we were actually there!!1
(http://screen7.co.uk/more/mittens/05/undertheruins.jpg)
I forget it's real name, but this wide path was apparently the great road that led to the acropolis!
Lots of Athens reminded me of Fate of Atlantis! I WAS IN HEAVEN!
There was also a museum! Though it was a bit sparse...
Two girls were escorted away for standing behind one of the headless figures - which is apparently an offence! Still, there was a little fountain so I broke the law and stuck a FoY post-it note plug on it.
Then I saw The Iliad!!! But I wasn't sure if that was a good, great or amazing thing....
And THAT was it.... Time to head back to the airport and catch our flight. Luckily we didn't have to camp out this time. We enjoyed our final, heavily salted MacDonalds trip & boarded the plane back to Geneva. At Geneva, we were kindly given food credits by a nice lady - and were able to purchase some food. However there was a very angry business man who was having trouble getting food quickly. We laughed.
I didn't take any more interesting photos, but I was impressed with Geneva's graphic fire escape design.
And no more than an hour and a half later, we were home :)
It was a superb trip - so hot, so relaxed & very fun! It was great to catch up and relax with everyone, and now I look forward to Spaaaain! I don't however, look forward to making a post like this with all my photos cos it took too damn long!!! :P
:)

That was a good read, great report! You didn't have truckloads of photos like some of us, but every one of your's was priceless!
It brought back memories, thanks a lot for posting it, it sure was worth the wait. ;)
Great stuff m0ds, this has to be the pick of the week:

Very nice Mark, thanks for posting these :D. One thing though, why am I either eating or sleeping in your photos? :P. This is all making me look forward to Brittens/Mittens more.
"Vin Diesel" looks alot more like The Rock to me :D
ah, memories!
