Title: Next OROW
Post by: TGames on Sat 05/10/2013 03:19:37
Does anyone have any Idea when the next OROW competition is going to be?

Mayhaps on the MORROW.

Or more probably whenever some old and respected forum member feels like organizing one. There are no set rules about how often they can happen.

We should have an ATC instead. Haven't had one of those in years!

It was something (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=20656.msg252235#msg252235) cool kids used to organize but then stopped doing so because you joined the forums! :P

Yeah, basically everyone who wants to participate signs up with their strengths, gets randomly divided into teams, and then has a fixed amount of time to make a game- AGS Team challenge.

I'd love to be part of an ATC when things clear up for me. It seems like a lot of fun! When it's not in the next few weeks: count me in!  (nod)

Yes, technically, you're right. The only difference is that you are not allowed to work as a Lone Oldschool_Wolf (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=9673) (such a useful User Name my friend has, I can always use it during my talk whilst linking to his profile (laugh)). So, this makes some difference. Plus, many people signup are willing to participate (which is not the case with MAGS) (nod). So.....
Spoiler
You're so damn right, how can I contradict you? :-

I'm pretty occupied these days. What about the others? How about we organize ATC for the next year's summer holidays?

That sounds like a good plan.

And while we're tossing ideas around, I'll suggest another SWARMAGS (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=43340.0).  If anyone wants the task of organizing it, I'd certainly join.

As for OROW, I'd love to participate.  I think we should get one going again soon.  I'd love to see it as a more regular event.

SWARMAGS is an another good idea :). We can organize it at a month where most of the fellow agsers will have their holidays. Maybe, Winter Vacation SWARMAGS? It would be really cool if CJ organizes the SWARMAGS himself. (nod)

And I second the idea of OROW being a more regular event.

I third OROW being more regular.  Whenever it comes around I seem to be too busy and say 'next time'.  It would be nice to have more 'next times', so the chances of me actually taking part improve ;)

I feel it should happen only once a year.

MAGS is our regular OROW. Except you can have more than one room...and more than one week.

OROWs happen when they happen. We've just recently had one, though, so it might be a while before the next one. Or not.

Once or twice a year is the usual.

If that's the case, I believe twice or thrice a year is a great option.

So it's the same, only completely different...  ;)

There's something quite unique about OROW.  There's no theme beyond One Room.  There's only one week, so it feels more like a fast paced game jam than a monthly project.  One Room games also have a certain charm.

I wouldn't say that last one was recent, it was at the beginning of July.  That was 3 months ago!  I'd like to see it at least twice a year, personally.  It's a really cool competition, and I guess I don't understand the desire to have so few of them.

I'm intrigued to see that the average OROW contest attracts 6 - 10 entries, whereas the average MAGS contest attracts about 2 - 3. I wonder why participation is so much higher for OROW?

Once it becomes a regular thing, every month or every other month, people will start to disregard the event thinking I'll join on the next one. Each contest having fewer and fewer contestants until it turns into the low popularity turnout of MAGS (which I still think should be an every other month thing, but that's a different conversation).

Once a year tops it should be. I have spoken. It is done. Make it so. 8-)

OK, I can see the logic of not having it too often, but once a year is too much in my opinion.  :P

@ Adeel: You could have linked to my Game Jolt profile! I could have extorted fractions of pennies off of every click! Tiny pieces of actual pennies!
Oh well.... I will not make too much of "A DEEL". Get it? A DEEL...a deal? (laugh).......aha........... :-\

@ T Games: You could make your own competition, but then you wouldn't be able to participate, that would be unethical! The solution is that Adeel makes a competition!
But then again you gave up on MAGS a couple of days after it started, you had a whole month! OROW is only a week!

if this results in more games like girl and rabbit I wouldn't mind having 100 OROWs a year! :=

100 OROW's in a year... That's like two OROW's a week, man. Thats... Just... What? @___@

But heck, having participated the last time and enjoyed it, I'm interested in doing it again for sure!
