Title: Portable AGS!!
Post by: DCillusion on Thu 17/11/2005 22:12:15
I know a guy at work who just got his shiny new GP2X, (gamepark 2), a couple of days ago.  Yesterday, at work, he was showing it off.  I must say, it's fantastic!!  He was showing how well it was handling Maniac Mansion Deluxe using the AGS Linux player!

I don't know if this ushers in a new age for AGS games or not, but it sure was cool. 8)

I really want one too.Ã,  I intend to make games for it... I have the engine set up as much as I can, just need to find the money to buy one.
Hang on... someone was playing MMD on it? stuff doesn't need to be recompiled? because as far as I know there is not an arm linux version of AGS...

I have it on my DS (http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com). Very good, apart from some hardware limitations that prevent it from playing some talkies and the more recent games. These will hopefully be overcome via magic before long though.

How was he playing. I'm not up to speed on Maniac Mansion, but doesn't the buttons have to be remaped to use the thumbpad istead of a mouse?

How is it even possible to get AGS games on a handheld or a tv-console? I don't have a clue... (or did I get this all wrong?)

Anyways, I don't think I'll ever get a handheld other than the GameBoy Advance. I didn't get one yet, but since I have a GameCube, a linkcable and GBA compatible games, it might be fun. But I highly doubt the GBA can handle AGS games unless very good programmed.

That's awesome! I've got ScummVM on my PSP, but I'd love to be able to play AGS on the go like that. I've always wished and prayed that someday, someone would port AGS to PSP.

...Anyone? Anyone?  ;)

I've tried to run Maniac Mansion deluxe and the remake of Zak with the linux interpreter, but because of the dll plugin, it's not possible to make it run.

Probably the first post was made when the game was released in a previous version without the plugin.

Is there a workaround so we could play the game without the plugin effects ?

Btw is the staff who made this game rstill eachable ? It seems their websites have all vanished :(
