I´ve completed the first frame of a character im willing to use in an upcoming game working with Flash 6.0 and whenever i try to export it as bmp file it sucks. I´ve drawn the image in 22 x 70 cause i thought it shouldn't be larger than that to place it as a sprite for the game. I didn't use any advanced shading effects and the palette is basically 256 colors, so i guess it shouldn't suck that much when i try to export it.  Is there anyone here who uses flash to draw the backgrounds/characters? What should i do so it could look good when i try to export as bmp?

Okay, in what way does it suck? Can you post an image to display what you mean by "suck"?

AlgoHimself

Sorry. Here it is:

Could it be the detail level?

I'm pretty sure flash applies anti-aliasing when exporting as .bmps.  this means they generally will suck.  having worked with flash extensively in the past, ill try to figure out a solution and let you know ;)

Hi,

The image link doesn't work on my computer.

But I have some advice:

If it looks exactly the way you want it to in Flash, then just make sure you can see the image and hit the "PrtSc" (Print Screen) button on your keyboard.  Then open up Paint and go to Edit->Paste.  Voilla!  Just crop it and you'll have your image exactly they way it looks on the screen.  If your Flash document is bigger than the size of your screen just do one section, then move to the next and combine the images in Paint.

Yeah, the link isn't working for me either. Probably my sucky connection. Anyhow, you can turn off anti-aliasing in Flash when exporting. Just uncheck the Smooth option when exporting as a BMP. You'll end up with nice pixelated vectors (kind of DOTT-ish if that's what your after).

If you have Photoshop (what am I saying, everyone has Photoshop), you can alternatively export the image as an Illustrator AI file from Flash and import it into Photoshop. This'll give you better control over creating a final image from the vectors (so I've found anyways).

Hope this helps.

Who are you people?   ;D

Just kidding, nice to see some new faces screen-names.
I don't see the picture either, and it's not a hotlinking problem - you've probably misnamed the file or something.

In flash, well.. it should work.  Just export things by making sure they are the only thing on the stage and going 'File>export Image'
You probably won't want antialiasing on so uncheck smoothing, should work fine.

Thanks for the help. I've tried all your suggestions but it is still looking bad. Guess i'll change programs and try again later. Seems that Flash does no good drawing very small images.
Here is a larger picture of the character. Btw, i can't see why the picture is not opening for you, cause the file is ok, the image is hosted and the link is right. Maybe it is some kind of xenophobic server where the picture is only displayed when you are from the server's country.

you could use the AGS (only) uploader http://2dadventure.com/ags/upload/upload.html as I still can't see it.

Flash isn't the best for low res things, at 640x480 and higher it can be nice though.
