Last night I had a REALLY bizarre dream! It was partly cool, partly "semi-nightmarish", but it was Quest for Glory related (so I believe it fits in this section of the forum).
So, in my dream, it looked like I was playing some hacked/fangame version of QG4: Shadows of Darkness. The hero looked like he was not only talking to ("non-vampirish") Katrina, but three other lovely ladies as well at night, outside the town of Mordavia. After the conversation ended, the hero climbed over the walls. But inside, aside from the staff of Erana, it looked like Dr. Cranium, but he walked away before I could get his attention. So I "reloaded" and talked to him again. Big mistake--this "Dr. Cranium" also had some werewolf-ish features, so I decided to get the heck back to my inn room. I climbed as a Thief would (I had no idea what class my hero was), but as he was climbing, the Dr. Cranium werewolf-ish character was following. Once the hero was back in the room, the werewolf Dr. Cranium started attacking the hero, and the hero was fighting back. That's when I woke up.
I've had a lot of dreams where I've got spiderman powers, not so much the climbing part but swinging and being able to shoot my webs to pick up stuff. It's pretty cool.
Hmmmm, let me consult "Freud's Guide To Dreams":
For that exact dream-sequence it says: "You love your mother, and hate your father."
...
Hang on!!! It says that for every dream-sequence!

Cool, so I'm not the only one with bizarre dreams (I mean, sometimes weird dreams can be cool too).

Oh, geesh! (laugh) What book are you reading from, dude? That
can't be an actual copy of "Freud's Guide To Dreams"! :P Anyway, thanks for your feedback, and I'm curious of others' feedback as well.
I sometimes dreamt of nuking England and conquering the world. I was getting those dreams when I was playing CiV too much.

What's CiV? Not sure if I know that particular acronym.
Anyway, THAT would be a frightening prospect if it came true!

Hahaha...I
sooo used to dream of CivII when I was playing it 16 hours a day, back in the day...
It became a blur when I woke up and had to load the game to remember what actually happened and what was just dreams...
That game can truly mess you up.
(Civ refers to the Civilization games by Sid Meier...I say "games" but for me CivII will always be the only one that really counts...Despite the horrible, exploitable flaws with air units...Especially nukes...Goddamn the lack of a simple option to "Attack/Ignore" whenever an air unit encounters a ground unit....AARRRRRGGGHHHH...It could have been PERFECT!!!)

Click >Ignore< ... swwoosh ... BANG ... What!? My air unit is gone? Oh, the ground unit was armed with an land-to-air missile. (laugh)
I've often mussed that my dreams are so weird, that they would turn into very interesting (yet very strange) stories. I once started to try and write them down as soon as I woke up, but dream memories go away too fast (and I always want to continue the story even though I know I won't be able)...
How many times have you woken up just when you are about to reveal the secret/mystery/etc? I hate to not get the end of the movie I was just watching. LOL

I still remember an amazing dream I had about 20 years ago where I was in a city built for vampires and the buildings were all just solid concrete walls with no windows and I had a bazooka for blowing up the mass vampire hordes chasing me down...Man, did I kick ass that night!
Also when I was a kid of about 5 years old, I had a recurring dream that there was a bridge over a chasm in a dark cave and this multitude of hideous monsters was chasing me through the cavern. I would run across the bridge with the monsters in hot pursuit and on reaching the other side I would find a light-switch. When I hit the switch I would wake up...
I often remember my dreams still (at 45 years old) and wish that I could be as good at creating detail to use in game/art projects in the waking world as I am in the dream world...Because, I swear...

I've seen shit that'd turn you WHITE!!!
Oh, I remember a big deal of my dreams, but they often make any sense, though most of the details get lost or are just a blur. And I'm rarely the protagonist. Or better, it's me without being my physical me, if that makes sense. And most often than not, it's in the 3rd person... like watching a movie/tv show/game.
And for those that say we dream in B&W... well, I remember color, so even if I'm dreaming in B6W, my brain is adding color... then again, it used to do that too when I watched TV on a B&W TV when I was young. :)
I've tried to dream walk, but never really succeeded. Envy those who can do it though. Though, if you're in control inside your dreams, then maybe the fun of it will get lost.
This is a great thread :-D
I sometimes have a dream where I can save/reload in order to back up and do stuff differently. That's quite funny.
I also remember once when I was playing QfG, I had this dream where the hero would climb even further up the rocks at Henrys place and come to a plateau where a gryphon would be nesting! A gryphon like the one found in the guild hall. Since this was in the EGA days, it would look like the golden-yellow version of the gryphon. I have ever since wanted to do that climb and find that gryphon :)

Oh my God, Cassie! I was just telling my mate, like three days ago, how when my family first got a colour TV we turned it on and everyone else was like: Ohhhhhhh and Ahhhhhhh and I had to pretend to be impressed because I couldn't see the difference. I'd been seeing the B&W in colour the whole time also! I was about 5-6 years old I believe...I thought I was the only one who had this experience because whenever I've told people (including my mate) they can never quite get what I mean...

Nothing stopping you from doing exactly that!!! AGS to the rescue!!!
The science behind is, that you know that the sky is blue, leaves are green, sun is yellow... your brain just fills in the voids. ;)
This is a great example, for those that don't believe.

I've heard that black and white thing about dreams before, but I never remember it being black and white.
Last night I had a dream I was watching porn but the volume was too loud, I kept trying to turn it down but it would either go up or stay the same. My wife and Mother in law were in the same room but they didn't seem to notice.
Then I was in an episode of Sons of Anarchy, I got to fire a gun but didn't get to ride a motorcycle.
At the end I was in a car with the cast of Ray Donovon, when I got out I had to tell them how to get out because it was a small car and they were climbing all over eachother, I had an Eastern European accent for some reason...

Except that it doesn't...Except when you are young and don't know the difference and your imagination does it for you...
Plato's whole cave thing I'm thinking...
I can't do it now: I look at a black and white image and, yup it's black and white.
I could only see the colours before they existed.

Naw...that's just a residual retina image retained in the eye cells before their chemical process is completed...It's the same as looking at a bright light for a bit and then closing your eyes and seeing an image: Notice how they reverse all the colours in your clip. I'm not an expert, but the residual images on our retinas see reversed colours. This is also why you need to stare at the dot...It's so you are looking at the same place with your residual retina image as what you were looking at beforehand...
Good metaphor for what you and I experienced though I guess...
Hmm... that'd make a great AGS project... make a game based on an eff'ed up dream you once had. Whether it be in recent days, or maybe way back in your childhood, this'd be a great project for AGS.
Heck, make it for MAGS... (laugh)

But not announcing anything officially, I don't see anything finished within the next couple years ;)

Mandle is right about the part that Civ means Civilization. Interestingly, with Civilization V, the acronym 'CiV' can be used to indicate Civilization V without using 'Civ V'. Sorry for not using the proper acronym. :)
As far as the childhood dreams go, there's one particular dream I used to have often. It was about a bus falling down the hill's top. I would be sitting on a seat located at the very back of the bus. The bus would dangle back and forth (what with half of it hovering in the air), kinda like see-saw. After some time, the bus would fall and I would literally feel the pull of gravity. At that point, I would wake up and find my head pressed very hard to the pillow.
Now-a-days, I am able to control my dreams once in a while. While it is fun to have more control, I am rarely able to 'finish' those dreams. This ends up in frustration. I've never seen my dreams in Black & White, though.

Inception.

Yeah, basically your dream of:
"As far as the childhood dreams go, there's one particular dream I used to have often. It was about a bus falling down the hill's top. I would be sitting on a seat located at the very back of the bus. The bus would dangle back and forth (what with half of it hovering in the air), kinda like see-saw. After some time, the bus would fall and I would literally feel the pull of gravity. At that point, I would wake up and find my head pressed very hard to the pillow."Perfectly described an entire scene in the movie where the dreaming team is in a van (e.g: your bus) which goes off the edge of a drop. The way they can wake up in the movie is to do the "kick" which is basically to feel the pull of gravity upon an impact after falling within a dream which wakes you up.
So yeah the picture was them in the van asleep while the van was about to hit the water below...I think you might be the guy in the middle on the back seat...Hood over the head kinda makes it hard to tell though...:P
I love that movie, but it gave me one of my most messed up dreams. I have lucid dreams once in a while, where you know you're dreaming, and I had one once where I was convinced I couldn't wake up. I was stuck in my dream (ie. stuck in my head), and it was too real, I couldn't wake myself up and I was freaking out. Imagining people would think I was in a coma.
My dream had me stuck in a large house the whole time, with a bunch of different rooms, and people wandering about.
Eventually I talked to the "dream people", figuring they were different aspects of my personality, in hopes one of them had an answer.
Finally one of them suggested I play some music, and meditate. And try to go to sleep. The idea being that if I fell asleep in a dream, I would wake up.
So I went into a room, with a big comfy couch and an ol' timey phonograph. Put on a record, got comfortable and tried to sleep. And as soon as I mellowed out, and closed my eyes to sleep, I woke up!! And it was super weird being in my head one second, then back in my bedroom. It was pretty awesome actually, if not scary for awhile there.
You're still dreaming Hana! Wake up! WAAAKE UUUP!!!
Your mind was just trying to give you some adventure game ideas, obviously.
Hana, I had a similar dream where I found this game dev program called AGS and lost years of my life. Man, was that a scary one.
LOL!!
