In this day and age of digital distribution, mega sales at ludicrously low prices, indie bundles and pay-what-you-want business model, there is always a game somewhere that's sold for cheaper than it normally is.
In the last months I stumbled on sales that might have interested some of you, a couple months ago all 5 Tex Murphy games were sold for 50% off on Good Old Games, then it was the 15th anniversary edition of Out Of This World and Sanitarium that were 30% cheaper, then all the Telltales adventure games were dirt cheap on Steam and even cheaper on Telltales' official site, Monkey Island 1 SE was given for free to anyone who pre-purchased MI2SE, there's also been several pay-what-you-want indie bundles with World of Goo, Osmos and Machinarium and other games worth playing, and all this time I told you nothing because I thought "Man, if I report all those sales, they'll start to think I'm a spammer." Well, not anymore.
From now on, if anyone spot a game that might interest some of us and that's sold for cheaper than it normally is, please bump this thread and tell us about it.
To the moderators: Feel free to move this thread wherever you feel it's more appropriated.

I can't believe I bought Machinarium without the soundtrack just before this offer began! Curses!
The complete season of Tales Of Monkey Island is sold for $5 on Steam. I don't know for how long so if you haven't purchased it already, now would be a good time.

Sweet! :D
I already have them all so this offer is completely worthless to me!
..give me $9.99 and we'll call it quits.[/logic]
I heard Calin was available for 9.99.
Can barely type that witicism though....goddamn hanson ***!
Edit: Sorry to drunkenly derail the thread. Don't usually drink whiskey.. I think it's a great idea though, let's see how the list grows.
*swish*
Peder thank you for the info! It's a bargain and I'm glad you posted this. Just bought it.-
All GOG games are up to 50% off for the holidays, if you missed a sale, here's your chance.
Some of them are only on sale for three days though. Much to my overdrawn self's dismay :(
The sequel to the Humble Indie Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/) is currently ticking!
And if you haven't got the humble bundle yet, if you pay above the average (which is currently less than 8 dollars) you also get the previous bundle, that's eleven games in total, pretty sweet deal!

Does Trine have any clever puzzles/situations later on? I was hoping for something in the vein of Lost Vikings, but it seems very action-focused - mostly just avoiding things hitting you.
I've only played a few levels so far, but I find it has both action and puzzle-like situations. And it seems that most of those can be solved in different ways, depending on the character you're using and the abilities you've acquired. Just take into account that unlike Lost Vikings (which is one of my favorite games ever btw), you don't play with the three guys together, but instead you keep switching between them as you see fit.
So far I like it alot, and I've found a lot of clever stuff in there.
I guess I'll give in and buy it then. Thanks for the info.

Wow! Thanks for the notice. I could never decide if to buy this or not, because I wasn't planning to return to it, but for this price I just have to.
Thanks a bunch, blueskirt! I've been toying with the idea of buying it from gog for quite some time now and just recently reconsidered the idea again (thanks to the GDC videos). Now is the time!

I definitely recommend Return to Mysterious Island and Journey to the Moon - perhaps the most refreshing adventure games of the last (and pretty stale) decade.

I'd...agree. Kheops made some decent adventures. Interestingly different, anyway.
Return to Mysterious Island really has some interesting gameplay, too bad it's a bit too short to take advantage of some of them more, some of the stuff was really fun. The game really is short. Also a lack description of items (like a Look option) is kind of anoying, when you're trying to guess what something is supposed to be or do...but it has a monkey riding a jet thruster, so it all balances out.
For the few who didn't know, GoG has all interplay games off till next month, including Fallout 1 & 2, and Tactics, Jagged Alliance 2, MDK 1 & 2, the Redneck Rampage games, and all the Earthworm games, each (although some are in packs) for $2.99.
http://www.gog.com/en/promo/interplay
In fact, if anyone can help me with any suggestions, TOO MANY GAMES!! WHICH SHOULD I BUY?! :D
Obviously the Fallout games and Jagged Alliance 2 :D. Redneck Rampage is fun, MDK is kinda quirky and I never really got into them but they are still kinda fun. Giants is pretty neato too, and everyone I know loves Kingpin (although I've never really played it ^___^). Evolva I own but haven't gotten around to playing yet :P. Messiah... is hard to recommend :P. The rest I know very little about haha.
Some other news from me: Dotemu are having a special on adventure games this weekend! (http://www.dotemu.com/en/promo-adventure-games-are-30-50-off-this-weekend-on-dotemu)

Messiah... is hard to recommend :P.
Why not? I was just planning on buying it. I once played a lengthy demo and was very fond of it.
Most of these games are classics of some sort and are worth-recommending. The exceptions are MDK2, Kingdom and Lionheart which are rather lame. Possibly also Evolva - I never played it, but remember mixed reviews. And I have to say I know next to nothing about the pure strategy/war titles like MAX, Invictus, the Conquest something game.
I bought Messiah last year and played through it. I did enjoy it, but: my standards are pretty relaxed and even easily pleased Ben304 could see the game's flaws. It is hard to learn to control, I spent ages at the first part going "this is rubbish how do I even play this?". It also doesn't do very much with it's concept - what could have been the basis of amazing puzzles was more using characters as keys than anything. Of course, I went in thinking it would be a bit like omikron and was very wrong. As I said, I did kinda enjoy playing through it, but I'm certain most people would get very frustrated with it.

Ultima 4 is free on GOG right now! http://www.gog.com/en/news/new_release_ultima_4_quest_of_the_avatar I stumbled upon that fact by accident as I've never played an Ultima game before, was just browsin' through GOG. I have scooped it up and now I will eat it.

"....when the six million mark is reached, remastered point-and-click classic Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Directors Cut will be free to download for everyone with a GOG account."
At the time of writing this GOG counter is around 5.9 milllion. If you register now you get Beneath the steel sky free to download (and some other games), but if you're around when the 6mil snaps you get BS1.....even better there's lots of great adventure games for low prices to buy at Good old Games. RUN! HURRY! FLY, TIMMY, FLY! :)
I laready have the original version, but I tryed playing the DC on a friends NintendoDS and the changes looked ok. Nevertheless, I think the game is still a must play for adventure games genre.
And here it is, Broken Sword, both original and Director's Cut versions, are now available for free to anyone who has a GOG account and add the game to their library before October 1st!
But you've all got your copy already, have you?
The Back to the Future game is 60% off on Steam.
New bundle promised every two weeks on Indie Royal (http://www.indieroyale.com/)!
The price goes up the long you wait, so get it fast...
GOG.com are having a Halloween sale (http://www.gog.com/en/promo/halloween_2011) which has discounted versions of some classic adventures, like the Gabriel Knight games and Sanitarium.
None of which I have yet. Tempted.... :=
Oh and hey, what do you know? More Halloween adventure gaming discounts can be found at the Adventure Shop (http://us-adventureshop.gamesplanet.com/) and DotEmu (http://www.dotemu.com/en/a-frightening-promotion-weekend-on-dotemu). (quick tip: A Vampyre Story is much cheaper on DotEmu)
