Okay, this is my first attempt to do something really GOOD.

1. Just click on the link to check it out.
(Link's safe, no banners, big images nor popups.)

http://www.hot.ee/adreamwalker

2. Write some opinions here and tell me how do you like it.

I didn' write anything about game HERE, because my site is completely about that game and doing one thing twice sounds stupid.
At the moment, page has 5 screenshots. I'll add more as soon as I decide whether do I keep them in game or not.

Now the final story is set and some more rooms have been added. I'll update webpage as soon I can.

Daxie

Nice! I would love to hear a little more about story, is that possible?
Good pics though, and 2d characters.

MillsJROSS

ehem quotes from your website...

QuoteFirst, there's no idiotic Paintbrush room graphics there. All rooms are 3D modelled and rendered as 2D-pics. Characters are drawn ones, and animated then. My animation skills are quite low, I must say, but good is that animation *DOES* exist. And -- looks quite realistic, too. At least when if you compare it with various other AGS-fan-made games. But you have chance to check graphics out by yourself when looking at the screenshots.

I didn't realise that 3d modeled animations were so much more intelligent that paintbrushed rooms. If you compare yourself to the bad graphical games, why not compare yourself to the great graphical games.

QuoteThird -- No MIDI bullshit pinging in the background, I took some time and composed some nice XM tracks to give game some ambience. But you can always rate em' by yourself.

MIDI isn't bullshit.

Now everyone's entitled to their oppinions, and here is mine: I like your screenshots, it looks like you'll be making a good game. However, I wouldn't play it, if I saw that offensive drivel on your webpage. Most of the people donwloading your game, appreciate MIDI, and appreciate low-res graphics. Just stay neutral, and don't try to offend anyone. I won't play a game, simply on a matter of principle, until that is changed.

But it does look good, so keep up the goods graphic work. Do the best you can do. And do what you think is best for your game. and goodluck!

Scummbuddy

yeah, im a 'yankee' why would i be offended by the word "bitch"? or were you just trying to make a joke, any joke at all, against americans?
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

:( Can't believe that some words caused this mess.
Anyway, did you guys read text "About Me"?
I have slept 15 hours during last 96 hours. I guess I was a little bit too angry and sleepy. Okay, page is fixed now. :-\. And forget what was there before.
After all, the GAME itself matters, not the way i described it, right?
And about comparing 3D -- I didn't say that I'm a pro or something. I started learning 3D in 3ds Max only 4 months ago. Better example of 3D in AGS is certainly "The Case Demo", which is also in progress and somewhere in this forum.
Maybe I get that far when making final rooms.

There's no 3D animation, except some animated objects, such as signs and some other. Characters ARE made (partially) with MS Paint and that simply
because Paint has fastest and simplest selector tool I've ever met. And it also imports pics from AGS
(for repairing or improving) with right palette. My main drawing prog, ArtGem! messes colors up when using Copy & Paste (some 16-bit/24-bit problem I think),  so I use 2 programs to do 2D sprites.

Pet Terry

Don't diss teh Paint-graphics and midi music >:( ;) ;D

Anyway, your graphics sure looks good, reminds me of Broken Sword. I would like to hear that music example but link won't work. Waiting for the full game... :)

I can't get your site to work, but from what I hear, I don't really care for this game. Until you finish a game, and put all the work involved into it, I don't think you can make fun of other games and maintain any credibility.....

aussie

I'm on your side, InCreator. It was just a way of presenting your game. Perhaps a bit blunt, but not offensive.

I can't work on a 3D program for peanuts, and I use MIDI music all the time, but I didn't feel your post was having a go at me. Lots of people in these forums say "I hate that interface" or "I didn't like that game too much" and that's ok. People are entitled to an opinion.

You could tone it down a little, though.  ;)

The game looks cool and I'll play it once it's released. I do give you full credibility given what you show for yourself at your website. Just the same as there are lots of other people who post a few screenshots and get credibility even if they don't finish the game.

Eero

Should be a cool game when released (I only hope your computer doesn't crash nor could some virus get in it, like it has already happened few times ::))...
Well, to be nitpicky, screenshots could be GIFs or PNGs... JPG smudges the pictures. Otherwise your site is cool.

EKM

Hey, I like what I see. The screenshots look like some advanced AGS game. It's cool that you have good graphics but to me, it ain't just about the graphics that matter, it's about how good the game itself is (story, etc..).

But I'm not gonna judge now, not until you have finished the game. It looks good.

undergroundling

Looks good, but the characters feet tend to blend into the background.  Perhaps you could fix that ;)

But thats just a minor thing.  Otherwise, I look forward to seeing this game develop!

Me too. You say whatever the fuck you want. I thought the whole "I did it this way, because the other way sucks" thing went very well with the use of language I saw in your screenshots.
I've got no problem with anything on your website whatsoever, in fact I thought it was all funny as hell. Don't 'tone down' a thing.

I'm looking forward to the final result.

Thank you guys. Well, I'm not that angry guy as I seemed at my first website update. Look at my avatar image - that's me! Do I look like a public enemy?  ;)

Okay. But I don't want to lose potential fans before anything playable will be complete, just because some text I typed when stupid HTML coding and InC-omnia made me upset and aggressive.

After all, what do you think, which english word is usually the first that non-english europeans learn?  ;)

And scandals DO sell, right?
I'm doing this game and I'm going to finish it.
Why?
Too much abandoned AGS games in my lifetime...  :(

I think I found a "cure" for getting out of ideas --
when doing Dreamwalker, at the same time I have a project named "Freakster Brothers", which is handdrawn adventure about two dogs. They work in a company that deals with computer game world problems. Like when Luigi makes Mario get stuck into toilet pipe to have a date with Princess at the same time, or when Jake McUrk (hope I spelled it right) from Pleurghburg orders Roger Wilco's death to get free Sprite Folders in AGS for his new animation... and so on... ;D

It's going to be a funny one. And whenever 3D-modelling for Dreamwalker freezes my willpower and brains, I draw a room or two for Freakster Bros.

Athough midi and painting progs still look/sound good when used by professional, I think 3D and XM sound/look alot better (again, when done by pro, actually, I'm not a one).

But why want something else than something better? I didn't say that those things are bad or something. Just I want to give more quality. Is THAT bad?

So - thanks for positive feedback. I'll need it.

MillsJROSS

I was just trying to get a point across to you. You're trying to sell your game, don't lose potential people who want to play this game by doing a stupid thing and making fun of what they themselves utilize (because for the most part, AGSers will be your main source of traffic). To each his own, and your entitled to your oppinion, but I was just trying to help you out down the road.

Like I said earlier, though. You're graphics are great, keep up the work. I will play this game if you complete it. And remember, have fun! These games are as much for yourself as for the people you are trying to entertain.

Good on yer Mills.

It was all just a bit os a misunderstanding.
