Due to server problems this post had to be unrespectfully pruned. As soon as these issues will be taken care of I'll put back the original version.

The game
ColourWise is a video puzzle game which revolves around mixing colours to break through a maze! Includes:

  • a simple yet addictive gameplay!
  • more than fifteen power-ups, to make your gaming experience even more challenging and intriguing!
  • exquisitely drawn backgrounds!
  • a story mode full of sassy jokes!
  • a Level Editor: yes, you've read right! An austere yet friendly and easy-to-use tool which will guide you in developing the Holy Grail of Mazes! (see screenshot above)

Can't you tell us a bit more about game mechanics?

removed until server issues will be solved

Who's working on this project?
Apart from yours truly (who's doing the scripting), our team is currently composed by:

-Ghost: best known for Once Upon a Crime, he will draw silky sprites for ColourWise.
-Pittiz: new to AGS, he will add a psychedelic touch to the game with his Backgrounds.
-ryanlandry: he will provide quality sound effects for ColourWise.
   -arjanpelle: finally, a musician!

Additional level design will be provided by:
-CodeJunkie: he impressed us with his skills and now is part of the team.
-Dualnames: the creator of Lone Case series joined us to make some levels.
-Mazoliin: last and final addition to the team, with him the trio is complete!

Beta testing: FSi, Space boy and TheJBurger

Emerald

Looks interesting... How exactly does it work? You have to make a rainbow or something?

Not really: you just start each level with a coloured block and you've got to mix it up with other blocks to obtain the final tint (e.g.: if you step into a yellow cube with a blue one, your colour will change to green), and then reach the exit of the level. This task is made easier/difficult by different power-ups/obstacles that you will find along the path.

Looks pretty interesting... intriguing (sp) concept for a game. Is there going to be some sort of psychedelic storyline behind it or not? And are there going to be AI enemies or is it just you against the clock / nothing in particular?

No AI enemies planned, but there will be a psychedelic storyline behind that.

Ubel

I really like the look of this. I'm always interested in non-adventure games developed with AGS. And this one in particular looks rather intriguing. Can't wait to try it out! Good luck to you and your team.

bicilotti

Thanks everyone for the support and the positive feedbacks! How engouraging!

I post to point out at an update (a new screenshot of the artistic qualities of Ghost), check the first post!

Vince Twelve

Very cool looking!  Really looking forward to trying this out.  Nice work guys!

R4L

I love seeing non-adventure games being developed, and this looks awesome! I really like the concept, and look forward to playing it.

Nikolas

GREAT!

(is there echo in here?)

Indie Boy

It looks really good! I am still trying to get my head round how you would play it :-\ It must be one of those games that you will pick up the minute you start playing it.

Anyway, I will definitely keep an eye on this and I wish you and your team good luck with the project ;D
I won't use this login.
Try IndieBoy instead

Ghost

As a proud supporter of bicilotti's runner-up to non-adventure-game fame, let me assure you all that the positive feedback and anticipation is *totally* justified. I love casual games, and ColourWise has all the hallmarks of a great puzzle game.
The game mechanics are, to use the hackneyed phrase, easy to learn but hard to master, and bic managed to create smooth controls and a surprising array of bonus blocks to spice up the core game.

To elaborate a tiny bit on the gameplay:
You navigate a coloured block through a tilebased maze, leaving a "trail" on the grid that cannot be crossed a second time. You must reach an exit tile, and to enter the exit your block must have a certain colour. This is where all the coloured blocks and bonusses come in- they allow you to change your colour by touching them (as described by bic) or challenge you by blocking your path... and much more (I really do not dare to spoil here  ;) )

Congrats, bic- finish this, and there will be cake!  ;D

Buckethead

looks very nice! The graphics on the editor are a bit messy though. Maybe you could polish those up a bit. For the rest it looks super b! Good luck!

I knew that my 100 words vocabulary would have fail miserably in the task! ;D

Luckily there's someone more knowledgeable in the team;D (btw, well done, added to the first post!)

The yet-to-be-polished editor is currently undergoing some polishing. News very soon!

Pittiz

Oh well, it seems we got a brand new background for ColourWise (actually it's the 2nd one). Hope you like it! ;)
Bicilotti asked me for some spacey stuff, and after some (several.. better) attempts, i guess i made it through.. Any advice and impression welcome!
I'd like to say i'm pleased and honoured to work with Bic- and the art-guru Ghost, and woa people watch out: ColourWise will colorize your minds  8)
Farewell!

Nice. Looking forward to it.

Giddy Plant

I hope you're also planning to port this to the Spectrum and Acorn Electron.

bicilotti

Bump! We found our first level designer, codeJunkie: he managed to pull off his hat two fantastic levels and here he is, part of the team. We miss almost nothing now (maybe another level designer, or two); scripting is quite complete and two new BGs have been done.
