Ben Chandler, Paranormal Investigator and Sebastian Pfaller, Paranormal Tax Inspector present
- after three years of letting the dough rise, just in time for the AGS Bake Sale -
the third instalment in their ongoing “robo emotion†series:
Fragment
A cybernetic ménage à (x²-x)
Timothy Jenkins is an aspiring scientist in the field of experimental cybernetic psychology. He is a loner, working the days away in his tiny laboratory, mostly known to fellow scientists for the unconventional and daring character of his work - often conducted at the borders of the code of scientific practice. His most recent experimental setup, called the Plateaus of Oblivion, was intended to explore human memory and conditions of forgetting, remembering, grief and remorse - but somewhere along the way, in the heat of the moment, Timothy loses control of the situation. An effervescent whirlwind of pure emotional code unfolds, and he soon finds himself confronted with memories from an uncertain past, with fears he had long forgotten and suppressed - and with love, where he least expects it. Can he, a man who has long lost track of the world, handle this digital emotion overload?
Prepare yourself for an introspective and surreal 32-bit colour extravaganza of digitalized emotions!

Ja-Hooooo! Arcady!
You sneaky... game-makers, you!
*Ghost does a fanboy dance*
I remember that! I want that! Oh wait: I'm going to get it, right?
The best part of this is how meta it all will be to you as a player!
Quote...finds himself confronted with memories from an uncertain past...
:o >:( ???
I'd even claim that meta starts here!
To quote one of my favourite quotes ever:
[11:43:41 AM CEST] Dr McDoctor PhD: I cut the screnshots incorrectly, so they both have small white one-pixel-borders, huhuhu.
[11:43:45 AM CEST] Dr McDoctor PhD: But I'll post it anyway.
[11:44:03 AM CEST] Dr McDoctor PhD: People will question my professionality, but I don't give a flying burrito brother!
[11:44:39 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: haha
[11:44:40 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: Ok.
[11:46:35 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: Oh man
[11:46:40 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: The thread is up.
[11:46:49 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: What unprofessional white 1px borders >:(
[11:47:19 AM CEST] Dr McDoctor PhD: I meant to question peoples' perception of digital reality that way.
[11:47:22 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: This was clearly made by someone totally unprofessional!
[11:47:39 AM CEST] Dr McDoctor PhD: They will ask themselves: "Is this real? No, it must be fake, there are 1px white borders!"
[11:47:52 AM CEST] ThreeOhFour: Of course!
This looks so unprofessional, I have lost all faith in ThreeOhFour! :(
Seriously, this looks very lovely indeed and the story sounds very intriguing. Can't wait to see more.
Is Ben making every game in the bake sale? Can he make mine too? Man, that would save me a lot of time. 8)
Finally! :)
More Bake Sale games! This looks beautiful in every way.
So let me get this straight:
Ben is creating one game, co-creating this game, starring in another game, and may be involved in another game that has yet to be announced?
Holy Batman, we have a machine among our troops!
We should rename the sale to AGS Ben Sale!!!
The backgrounds look lovely, by the way...

I've made a bit of a slow start [...]
;D
Just in case anyone is concerned about Ben's health: The "letting the dough rise" thing actually means that Ben started the game way back (before Heed, if I remember correctly), then I took over at some point and advanced the project to a level of procrastination as of yet unparalleled in the Threeohfouriverse. Which means: Only the writing, scripting, musicking and soundual effectualicating parts of the game have to be completed, and Ben only has to sprinkle some of his magic pixels here and there to add some missing sprities or a tiny little background, which I am sure he can do in breaks between hunting for his candy box, graphically exploding the planet and doing unknown things for an unknown game!
And after that we can sell him? ->

Yes, Fragment's alive again :D
Update on this: I finished the last graphics for it last night! Now Sebastian merely needs to put those final touches on and in the game, and put it into the Funk-o-Oven 2003 and it will be ready for digesting!
(note - emotional and personal themes contained within the game may make it unsuitable for digestion)
Heartbreak-thermometer!
Hi Ben,
If you interested in a french translation for any of your games, then I am your man
I think I'm must have been drunk or something, cause I can't believe any other reason, I missed this. I'm hooked, may you please create this, otherwise, i will be heartbroken.
Duals, I can assure you: this game will be finished and you hopefully won't be heartbroken. And it will most likely feature some sort of robot porn, too. Romantic virtual robot porn in the dark with no lights on, but still -
Surdy: Le responsable, c'est moi - Ben and me are working on the game together, but by now most of the text is mine. Once the game is complete, I'll gladly send you the files for translation, although it will be quite a lot of text.
Progress report: 92,4% of the game complete.
Excellent news! To the Funk-O-Oven! :D

Your update brings good news ~ can't wait for all these emotions to come and take me away!
Hi kapputnik, ;)
I have already translated Nelly Cootalot Spoonbeaks Ahoy & Chance of the Dead but the versions are not ready, probably next year. ;D
I am also interested by translating another Ben Chandler's game like Awakener, Eternally Us, Airwave, City, Annie Android but I have no answers. :'(
Please talk to Ben :)
I do my best to answer all emails but sometimes they get on top of me/I forget I haven't replied to them!
At the moment I am fully committed to other projects and don't have time for coordinating translations, unfortunately. I do appreciate the offer though!
Back on topic: I am glad to see people willing to subject themselves to a digital pastiche of pixel emotions. This game has been a strange beast to try and tame, and I admire Sebastian's dedication to finishing it! He has taken what was a clumsy attempt to put emotion into a game and given 1D characters more dimensions. I look forward to seeing people play it after all this time!
OM holy G in H, this is really nearing completion. I am currently sending out what should be a final beta for testing, then I'll have to add some sounds, probably fix some animation glitches and - WHAM, ALL BAKED.
Honestly, I have ultra-high expectations for this game. The story is sold to me like two other games. Technobabylon Part 2 and The Unfolding Spider, both being favorites.
All baked. Tastes a bit funny, though, I hope I didn't forget adding sugar!
Excellent news! This day just keeps getting better and better. :D
Oh man, Sebastian, did you accidentally stir some emotions into the mix?
I warned you about that! Now it will taste like feelings. :-\
