July 07 update
More rooms, 17/100 points, more of the story, still unfinished.
...................................................................................................

This is a small demo of "Footprint", a game that will contain the most basic things (in my opinion) the average person can do to protect the environment.

It's not addressed to environmnenalists, but to people who think it takes enormous efforts to reduce some waste or replace energy devouring appliances and fear they'll have to change their lives completely.

At the moment we have only 9/100, but you get to know  the cast :P

Jon

This looks quite original and unique, do you know when the full game will be completed?

passer-by

I have no idea.

I know what the 100 things are but I'm lazy with backgrounds.

auriond

This looks like a wonderful educational game - can't wait to see it completed!

I know what it's like to be lazy with backgrounds, so I won't bug you for a completed date - I'm just happy that you're making the game at all :)

I almost fall asleep reading about this game. And to consider i 'm an enviromentalist sort of guy. i wonder who is going to play this game. I mean it's like oh my god. I'm Mr maple? That's hilarious. Gave me many ideas about my game.

I don't want to be harsh on you, but you have to agree educational games are kinda boring. I love the enviroment and despite most of the people around the globe i'm fully aware that we're in a thin line here.

Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Dualnames,

I didn't understand if it's boring as a game or just because it's kind of educational.

If it's about the story and backgrounds, I recognise it's still lacking, but I'm working on it .

PS. It's not addressed to environmnenalists, but to people who think it takes enormous efforts to reduce some waste or replace energy devouring appliances and fear they'll have to change their lives completely.
(mayby I should add this to the description)

Auriond,

I don't know when it's going to be completed, my computer is not fully cooperating.

You might be fully aware of it, but then this game is probably not for you, because you already know all about how we can reduce our carbon footprint and so on, yadda yadda. But I can easily see a game like this being used in a primary school classroom (elementary school, over on the other side of the world). Kids would enjoy a mascot like Maple, and they'd probably learn a thing or two about how they can play a part in saving the environment. Or even secondary school students - I know the kids here would love any alternative to writing an essay, and they might even learn something in the process as well.

And of course - we haven't actually played the game yet, so it's a little early to judge whether it's boring or not.

Fair enough you werent being harsh but I believe this game could teach people how to do your bit for the environment and target a whole new audience to AGS.

Brilliant idea I'l be checking up on this
Currently working on a project!

It may end up boring, but I have to try  :)

I'm not sure everybody is aware of environmental problems, though, or they don't think they are important enough.

Mr Flibble

I'll be giving this a play through when it's done, I think it's a brilliant idea.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Just to make things clear here. the following statement follows:

1)I did not say that the game will surely suck or be boring because the images gave me that impression.

2)I think if you made this game just a little bit serious it would ended up being perfect.

3)If you just made as the game's main idea how things are already changing because of the abuse we're doing at our planet or how big the problem really is, the game(If I can call it this way) would be appealling to all kinds of people instead of small kids or teachers.

4)Do not be any means stop your efforts on this game. Comments and critic even though you did not ask for it may sometimes be not the one we're looking for but this doesn't mean in any way that we can't use it in our favor. I'm sure that in spite that you put a lot of effort in this game so far hearing some not so appealing comment may  discourage you in some way. But it's just an opinion and in every subject and/or discussion there are 3 opinions yours, his and the right one.

END of Statement

"World pollution
There's no solution
Institution
Electrocution
Just black or white
Rich or poor
Them and us
Stop the war
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you "

You make it sound like a game for small kids or teachers is a bad thing. :P

But you're right about one thing - passer-by, it's your game, continue it the way you want it :)

And since I've only just noticed the download link (I'm really not awake...) I'm gonna go give it a spin now :)

m0ds

It's a great idea. I will check it out! Make sure you announce it on education websites etc. I'd point it out to news websites too they might report it. It's original & it's very relevant to current affairs.

Thank you for the comments, people.

When and if my laptop feels like it, I'll add more rooms and points.

'Footprint' is not addressed to people who think jeeps are the best choice for city centers.
But it won't appeal to fanatic environmentalists, either.

Jane believes Nature can heal herself for ever. Maple comes in her life to burst her bubble and make her see the wounds people left on Earth. He will try to put the right ideas in Jane's head without her feeling under pressure.

I made Jane completely ignorant, because there are too many people who know nothing about preservation. I made Mr Maple a bit lazy, soft and forgiving because I'm not a very decisive environmentalist myself. I don't think meat eaters are as dangerous as car exhaustions.

Estimated release date: May 2467  :P
