It's a couple of months yet to go, but I thought I'd get the whole "showing" people thing out of the way to build up excitement. After all, this is the Excitement Games Studio forums, aren't they? Aren't they? They aren't? Damn. Well, in that case, coming soon to a computer in front of you:

Nancy the Happy Whore and the Perfidious Petrol Station

Nancy, the titular sex-worker with an unshakeably optimistic attitude, finds herself running out of fuel while on her way to the Big City. Now, with the help of her best friend and crack-fiend Susie the Drug Addict, she must not only procure the petroleum to make her auto-machine go again, but help defeat an armed robbery, a disillusioned amateur hippy and THE PROPHETS themselves to help uncover the evil lurking within - the PERFIDIOUS PETROL STATION!





(Graphics sort-of representative, and subject to a whole lot of improvement and cleaning-up before it's finished)

- An intricate and disturbing social commentary on the issues of modern womanhood
- Non-linear art
- Eight rooms!
- Voices! (which reminds me, who wants to voice a character?)

Since this is intended to be part of Mods' Summerbatch group of games, it'll also be my first venture into charging people money for what I make. COMMERCIAL! WOO!

Australia's kind of near to NZ and Micronesia, they can kind of average out the distance!

I've no doubt Australia would ban it. After all, as far as the Aussie government's concerned, computer games are always, 100% exclusively aimed solely at minors and nobody else.

Just thought I'd say, Nancy the Happy Whore and the Perfidious Petrol Station can now be played from beginning to end - as long as you do it absolutely correctly, don't mind a complete lack of walkcycles on non-main characters, and absence of sound.



Fortunately, the magic of unemployment gives me an awful lot of time for fixing these things, and I confidently predict that within two weeks, people will be able to have a test-drive of Nancy for me. As long as you're interested, of course!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to make sure she's performing at her best.

With the deadline for the Summerbatch coming up so quickly, there wasn't quite enough time for voices, I'm afraid! I'm thinking of it for her next outing, though.

Eh, for voices, if I'm not talking to another actual person, I sound a wee bit monotone--maybe I could try being a voice for a character who's semi-monotone in talking?  At least I'd be attempting to try another thing in doing games.

Maybe I'd be a character that tends to talk monotone enough that Nancy falls asleep in the dialogue (that'd be funny, huh?).

Yes, alphabet with accents should be great.

Nancy the Happy Whore is in french ''Nancy la Pute Heureuse'' because you use the word ''whore'' not ''prostitute'' but it's a bit rude.  I think ''Nancy la Prostituée Heureuse'' is better.

娼婦 means something closer to 'sex worker' and I haven't heard anyone ever use that word in a daily conversation.　売春 (baishun) is a much more popular word. 幸せ will require a な (na) suffix if a noun follows. The output would be 幸せな売春ナンã,·ãƒ¼.
