RON Movies is a game/toy/tool made with Adventure Game Studio where you can write your own little movies and episodes that take place in Reality-on-the-Norm with most of the exisiting characters. RON Movies comes with a visual built-in reference section in order to write a successful script.

The construction of your movie is not visual, however, it is a script that you write, which the game will read and play back. The script would look something like this:

Code: ags
Location "Restaurant".
Lucca: Position 234, 148.
Guido: Position 200, 120; Face Lucca.
Lucca: Face Guido.
Fade in.
Lucca: Say "Guido! What are you doing here? You'll drive away the customers!".
# etc.
Fade out.

Hopefully, it's not too complicated to understand. It really allows you to write scenes very very quickly, and it's really fun to write really crazy stories. Sometimes I just get distracted testing the current progress.

The reference is there to help you look for the names of hotspots, characters, and locations. You can move the characters around and even test their walking by just clicking arond the screen like any adventure game. You can also write the script inside the editor, or you can always use notepad or any other editor you  like.

Darth Mandarb has allowed me to do the public beta test in this thread. Please download the RON Movies beta and start making your own movies. I'm open to suggestions made. If you really think that there's something that it MUST have, then please post a reply. Also,  post your movies here as well!

RON Movies looks fantastic and the idea is really original. Ã, Keep it up!
Cool stuff I found out: Men are four times more likely to be struck by lightning than women.  Wow, really? [dirty joke] Maybe this has to do with the fact that us men have "lightning rods"? [/dirty joke]

To cool. have to play now . lol

Excellent idea! Trying it out now. Good use of AGS, too. :)

Huzzah! Have been waiting for this, excellent work!

Is there a way to insert new characters and backgrounds as more are made for RON? That would be quite funky.

Also, I'd recommend sending this to Dylan over at RON HQ, this will send his little heart a flutterin'. It'll tie in quite nicely with RON's 5th.

Rock on, good sir.

To answer your second question, I'll let the RON forum regulars know about it, but I don't want Dylan to post it on the website until the final version is released.

To answer your first question: no, unfortunately. Because of the nature of AGS, rooms and characters must be imported prior to the compilation of the game.

For this, I'm willing to take suggestions to which characters you would like in the game. I want the final to have as many characters as possible, if not all of them. It's not a hard process to import the characters (just a simple .cha import), but to update them is a pain.

As for rooms, same thing. Which brings me to another thing I'd like to ask:

If anyone would like to help add rooms to ron movies, it's not a very hard task. Basically, rooms in ron movies have a walk area with proper scaling and some walk behinds.

Putting hotspots is the task. Basically, you have to look at the room and create a new hotspot on all the things that you see, and just mark it with a walk-to point. No need to draw around the hotspots.

For example, the room has a window and a door. Then you call one of the hotspots Window and put a walk-to point where the window is, and the same thing for the door.

If anyone's interested, send a me PM.

Best game concept I ever heard for an AGS game..!

And looking very good!

Here is the first (technically second) RON Movie file ever released:

The Very Hot Day

WARNING: If you are not a fan of "slow-burn" humor, STEP AWAY FROM THE LINK AND NOBODY GETS HURT. Extreme heat + Melt and Drake as the main characters = pretty slooooooowwwwww.
Now let's find out if gasoline is flammable!

Just downloaded and played the first few movies. A damn fine engine here, I see a LOT of potential in it. I'm looking forward to those planned features.

The best thing to do is make sure all the backgrounds are as updated as they can be, and all new cha. files are in. Would it be feasible for moviemakers to do custom animations that they would then send along to you for uploading? That would be the most obvious, if not easist way, to handle that.

Very impressed. Will definatly make use of this in the future.

Wow ... thanks for the error report.  I'm sure they didn't find this 7 months ago when the last person posted in here ...
