Hi, it's me again! ::) I know what you're thinking, "Oh no, it's him again!" Sorry for that. But I have another question. Can you make 2-d games in the style of super mario world or maple story? I'm pretty sure you can't, though just making sure.

You mean platformers? Yes, you can. Search the forums. It's been answered before.

there are apps out there more suited to platformers than AGS, such as GameMaker and Scrolling Game Development Kit

Try a forum search for 'Platform games'. As other have said it's not easy, but do-able if you're willing to put in a lot of effort.
