320x240 vs. 640x400

I wanting to make a game but I am not sure if it should 320x240 or 640x400. Can somebody give me the pros and cons of each?

i think you mean 320x240 and 640x480, because those two you mention are different aspects.

I'll try pointing out a few things.

320x240 :
- Faster running
- Lower game size
- The classic resolution, wich was used for KQ, PQ, SQ, Larry etc... so it gives that feeling

640x480 :
- If you need alot of detail, or you use 3D rendered backgrounds this is probably better resolution
- Slower running
- Larger gamesize

heh not really, they used 320x200, but you've got most of the points already.

I've noticed on the download page that very few games use 320x240 (they tend to use 320x200 instead). Is there any particular reason for that?

Earlier the game database had only 640x400 and 320x200, ie. lo res and hi res. So if the game was 320x240, it had to be set to 320x200 because there wasn't 320x240 in the list back then. Right?

But, in some Pcs the 320x240 don't work (like in mine...) then... I think that you want a game to work in alll pcs, then you use320x200 or 640x400... the letterbox you can make in your bg.

Actually 640x480 works for most pcs, so you can make 320x240 games, just when the player fould that his pc can't display 320x240, he can always set up the game to play at 640x480 .

yes... 640x480 work in my pc...
