Hi guys,

I'm a newbie here and trying to read the tutorials, however there are some deadlinks in the tutorials, could someone resolve them so I can read the tutorials instead of asking dumb questions before reading up.

The deadlinks I found are from this page http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/Starting%20off.htm

Many thanks

Pete

Ah, yes, there're some problems with the weblinks.
(If the host address is changed to "new" instead of "www" not even the bluecup "oops" 404 page works.)

However, unless you can't read the manual included with the AGS package for some reasons, you don't really need to check the online one, as all these stuff are in the manual. (The manual is the ags-help.chm file in your AGS folder, just double click it or press F1 while in the AGS editor.)

Excellent thanks,

I'll check the installation package.  I just figured the online tutorials would be more upto date.

Thanks

The tutorial section of the AGS manual seems to have gone missing from the main AGS server some time ago (or at the very least it seems to have moved). However it is still available online via the AGS wiki here.

It's just because someone := was bold enough to do the hard work of copy them to the Wiki, still when a new version is released that someone still need to work hard to incorporate the changes.

The story behind this is a bit convoluted.

Basically, the tutorials linked via the Resources page, which links to here, do work:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/acintro.htm

But if you go via the Online Manual, they don't work because the have /manual/ in the URL.

However, because the online manual is automatically generated from the CHM manual, if I fixed these links on the online one they'd just break again next time I did a manual update.

There are possible solutions of course, but I just thought it was worth pointing out that these links being broken isn't simply a matter of laziness with not fixing them. ;)
