distributing game

i'm trying to put a link to my game on geocities but when i try to upload it onto the file manager it says it's the wrong file type so i guess it doesn't work. so do i have to make it a different file type or what? and how can i upload the whole folder so it includes the setup as well? i read a tutuorial on distributing and it said to use winzip to make it a zip file but it doesn't work. please help.

geocities is a waste of time. I would recommend getting a site at http://www.freewebs.com. You will be able to upload your game there.
