I am using a Dell Inspiron dual core notebook.  It is running Windows 7 64-bit.  AGS seems to run fine.  I have the IDT high definition audio device.
I put the midi file into the Music directory in the documents directory in the folder of my game. I renamed it Music1.mid.
I used the playmusiconroomload and put in 1.
I start the game up and music is not being played.
I did a search of the forums for "music not playing."
I found some posts that windows media player needed to be open for some other people for the music to be heard.  I opened media player and no song was playing.
I could not find any settings for midi files in the media player settings. Nor, in the IDT settings.
Please help!

Hi

did you actually name it: Music1.mid (you should never name it with the format ie mid) it should be just Music1 in the Music Folder.. Thats if you have done this..

For background music, AGS can use OGG, MP3, MIDI, WAV (uncompressed), MOD, XM, IT and S3M music files. For sound effects, you can use OGG, MP3, WAV and VOC files.

Script it as PlayMusic(1);  in Room after fade in.

Its all in the manual

The documents directory?
When you create a new game, AGS creates three folders in the game folder (among others): Music, Speech, Sound. In those go the respective files. Did you create a documents directory and move them there?

Sorry my internet has been spotty lately.
I solved it.  I changed the wrong directory.  When I moved the music to the right directory, it worked fine.
Thanks everyone.
