Title: How to add footsteps sounds
Post by: werner on Fri 18/11/2005 15:54:01
Thanks for the help. I figured it was just something I missed in the manual.

The easiest way is to attach the footstep sounds to the frames of the walking view where the character's foot touches the ground.
Go to "Views", select the walking view of the character you want to give footstep sounds, then click "SND" beneath each frame where a foot touches the ground. Enter the number of the sound you want to play (e.g. "3" for sound3.mp3).
Now every time that frame is displayed on screen (i.e. the character walking), the chosen sound will be played.

If you need something more advanced like different footstep sounds for different surfaces and automatic volume scaling, take a look at my CharacterRegionSounds script module (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=21795).

Off-topic: Why did you quote yourself for a post, and you never even said that... ???

It seems to me like he edited his first post, then quoted it.  I'm thinking he didn't mean to edit the post perhaps?  Which really is a non-sensical thing to do, editing one's post to reply to the post below them.  Which is why I think it may have been an accident.

Actually, it looks like he edited, quoted, then edited again as the quote doesn't match the first post.

My guess is, since the question got answered he removed it. If so:
werner, in the future please leave your questions intact, to make it easier for anyone with the same problem to find an answer.

Everyone else, unless you've got something related to footstep sounds to add, consider this closed.

Back on topic - this is also mentioned in the BFAQ (http://bfaq.xylot.com/#audio05), which you should have a read of if you haven't yet, or a re-read if you already have.
