Title: I have a question about backgounds
Post by: krishaw on Tue 14/04/2009 01:11:29
Hi, new to the engine, new to the forum. I was just curious on what exactly is the best program/way of making backgrounds to games. I was looking for something along the lines of Ben "Yhtzee" Croshaw's game: 5 days a stranger ( http://www.adventurelantern.com/reviews/5DaysAStranger/1.JPG )

If there's anyone out there who can possibly point me in the direction of a good, easy program or who would even be willing to draw up the backgrounds for me I would greatly appreciate it. And no, I'm not artistic.
Thanks in advance

Here's a list...

Simple, clean backgrounds as used in 5DaysASomething can be done even in simple MsPaint, and I know some forummembers who are using that program with great success. Graphics Gale would be my personal suggestion- you can find the download link in the thread I linked to. It's easy to use and easy to getting used to.

Another tip- once you got a program you like to use, put some of your work up in the Critic's Lounge: That way you can get help and feedback; who knows, maybe your style isn't that bad at all (even though you say you're not artistic, pixel art is quite forgiving and looks good even when "constructed").

Happy game-making, and welcome to the forums!

Thanks very much for that, Ghost. It's very helpful.
