Title: polish boy needs your help
Post by: on Sat 18/10/2003 18:44:08
Hey all. I'm from Poland. I can't speak english too good. We don't have any websites about AGS in Poland. So I need your help.
It's my problem:
I drew my characters in MS Paint to my game and I don't know what I should do with them. How do I import them? I don't know too how I can use my background (room) (Drew In Paint).
Tell me something about it,give me some tutorials...
Help me

In the room editor, use the import button to import room backgrounds. And for characters, you need to import the pics in the sprite manager, then make them views in the view editor, and set the views you made to characters in the characters pane.

thx, but

In room editor when I import my background , it is too big. I want it looks like it looks in Paint. In paint it was smaller than I import it to room edit

First I must import character in Characters Editor. It must be ".cha" (not ".bmp")  How can I change from .bmp to cha.

What size is your bg? If you drew 640x400, and try to import it to game with res set to 320x200, of cource it is too big!  ::)

Go to the Sprite Manager, select a folder or create a new one, then right-click in the right part of the window, and select 'Import new sprite' from the pop-up menu.

may be yur importing the sprite using grab entire image and leaving the top left pixel  as setting the transparant colour?

try putting one black dot in the top left of your sprite image and importing it again...im probably off beam ,but i can see that that might catch me out ..

Hi there!
You are from Polland... I'm Greek, so what:P? I suggest you should read the tutorial that comes with the program, download other tutorials and visit these forums regularly (you don't have to post, just read them to learn from them). I am a newbie as well, but I've been working with AGS for a week and I can do loads of great stuff now. It's very easy to learn, as long as you want to.

Gotth,

Do you still need help?  If you do, feel free to ask questions.  That's what we are here for.  What Peepwood said is true,  there are a lot of useful tutorials and other reading materials.   However, it can be frustrating when you are just starting out.

One of the most common mistakes peopl make with AGS is that they imagine that things are more difficult than they actually are.  Keep trying and things will soon start  comming to you more easily.
