Title: Speech
Post by: Radiant on Tue 28/08/2007 22:47:39
I'm probably doing something really stupid here, but is there any particular reason why

SetVoiceMode (eSpeechVoiceAndText);
DisplaySpeech (EGO, "&1 Zzz...");

would fail to play EGO1.WAV from the speech.vox file?

I tried setting up the same thing and it played the voice fine. The only thing I could suggest is to try is rebuilding the vox files.

Off-topic, does this mean that you're working on a speech pack for A Tale of Two Kingdoms? I haven't played it yet and just downloaded the new version, but if a speech pack is coming, I might wait to play it.

Unfortunately, no.

Well, rebuilding the voice pack a bunch of times didn't work. If there any particular flavor of WAV files that AGS doesn't play for whatever reason? Are they perhaps too short, or in the wrong bit rate? Should I convert them to MP3/OGG?

Have you tried playing a different numbered file (say, ego10.wav, by renaming that file or try another file) and see if that works?

I think AGS doesn't play ADPCM-compressed wave files. Try pure uncompressed PCM.

Aha! Thank you, Strazer.
