Did you check the help file that come with AGS? Just open AGS.chm and go to the tutorial section.. That should help you get started.

Oh. Um...

How did you get to the forums without first going through the AGS home page?

www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk

Then go to Download.

Quote from the main page: "You can download from one of the mirrors below."

Just click on any of the links that say "Download AGS".

you must cerate and save a game first in the AGS editor before you can use this engine.

if you have just downloaded AGS, you are probably running the wrong executable.
RUN AGSedit.exe to launch the editor.

(unable to find 'ac2game.dat' in C:\windows\temp\install)

what should i do??

Okay maybe you should have said that right from the beginning in order to save time and bandwidth, which CJ/Pumaman pays for.

Does it say "Unable to find...etc." when you try to run "AGSEdit.exe"?

when i try to run it it says:

cannot find the file'AGSEdit.exe' or one of it's components.
make sure the path and filenames are correct and that all required libraries are avaliable.

so what now??

hmmm did you unzip it completely with paths in your computer, or just double clicking the executables inside the zip file?

If it's the latter, make sure you unzip the content properly into a folder before trying anything else.

Quote from the main page: "AGS is not for everyone."...

Redownload, reunzip, run AGSEDIT.EXE. Read the manual. Try things out. Go through the tutorial. Go through the scripting tutorial. See through the text script function lists. Read the Knowledge Base and Frequently asked Questions (from the manual and the "Docs" page on the AGS mainpage).
