Background Blitz - May 27 to June 10 - Extreme!

Atmosphere - jWalt - maybe because there are characters in there and it all looks like haridressing gone very horribly wrong, but I felt this scene was disturbingly "alive"
Composition - Awakening - the most interesting idea and well implemented, great impression of height
Functionality - Miez - I could easily see this being used in a game
Technique - Meiz - working with a limited colour palette AND that crazy skewed perspective, and making it look so good, must be incredibly difficult!

Generally, I found Miez's background really drew me into his world. But I did feel Awakening's background had more possibilities for interaction.

Miez, your piece perfectly captures the style in a gorgeously retro picture!  It looks like quite a precarious journey up there, and I love the location.  It's overall a beautiful image
I feel like the exploration and interactions are a bit more limited in your piece so I've given the functionality vote to jwalt
