Well, usually I do start them, but they always become too ambitious a task and they're left undone. But the good thing is I've been able to implement one or two of them in my projects. I began sketching for this one as well, but it was overrun by another inspiration (which actually proved to be quite a good thing :)). I'll be announcing my game soon, so you'll see something then :). Needless to say, I love the blitzes whether I enter or not.

You are standing on the bridge-like construction outside the service entrance of the crab-people's palace.
Sadly you do not have the time to admire the view or the gorge below you since you have to flee for your life. Next time you might think twice before poking a crab with a crown on it's head in the eye.

whoever is going to win this comp (im looking at you, sektor and danclarke), please host a "Paintover Monkey Island 1 background".

that way we have a whole monkey island 1 remake, thx to buloght's sprites.
it could work. think about it. hehe.

Totoro - 'twould be an intriguing game that would use that image as a background!
Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Kneel. Now.

Thanks ;)
I thought about a game where you play something really small, for example a bacteria, virus or some microorganism who is responsible for cold and flu - and of course it wants to take the bridge from one human organism to the other ;)

quicky = how many hours?

Just over an hour, I cheated on the clouds with a filter for the base.Ã,  Lots of stuff in there was done in quick ways rather than 'painting' or pixel by pixel.Ã,  Examples: Ropes = Lines with noise filter, bridge=basic shape, with quick strokes of color in the general direction of the boards, then a couple quick erase strokes for missing boards.Ã,  And like I said, it turned out better than I expected :)
Edit: (Someone asked so...) Grass=green+noise filter+"chicken scratch",  Water=Gradient+Noise+motion blur+painted details,  Yes, bridges are mirrored, Path=brown+noise+painted details, Cliffs=Painted rough+edge enhance+dup layer edge traced and overlayed+painted details.  Think that was all.

Well it's marvelous stuff lilbluesmurf!

I won't be around for midnight, but you guys can vote as soon as the clock strikes 12 :)

biothlebop

freaked out. I looked at that picture and saw drowning people, trying to pull themselves out of the waves.

Best Idea - Tottoro of course! Brilliant

Best Design - Dan Clarke! The house, the road and the little bridge. Innovation and a great idea and design.

Best Functionality - Sektor 13. Brilliant. The entrance, the exit and bridge. No scaling really neede, so just perfect for me.

Best Technique - Littlebulesmurf. Not only he/she (no time to look at the profile) provided the BGs but gaves as a thorough explanation of what he/she did.

EDIT: Whoops, I can't read. Okay, seperate catagories, eh?

Best Idea - I agree, Tottoro.

Best Design - I vote for Biothlebop... I love gloopy, stringy looking rock, and the colours are interesting.

Best Functionality - Sektor, I think... like Nik said, no scaling needed and it's all very clear.

Best Technique - I'm not sure if I'm judging the right thing, but again, biothlebop. I love the technique he used for the bridge as well as the mountains in the background.

kinoko, i assume you vote for him in every category?
