Poetry Competition 3/1/2005-10/1/2005?

Babar

Welcome to the first ever AGS poetry competition. You have one week in which to submit your entries after which there will be 3 days of voting. This is subject to change depending on how you think it should work.

Ok, this weeks rules are as follows:
You are a character who has been jailed for robbing a bank. You want to tell your wife where you hid the loot, so you write her a love poem. Inside the love poem, you have to somehow convey where you hid the money. It can't be too obvious, because your letters are going to be read. However, don't make it too obscure either, or she won't understand.
Good luck

Excellent rules!

I wanted to write you
The ultimate letter of love, then
I thought of that weekend
that we spent in Skye
I am yours forever!

Do not doubt
That I remember your touch
Your kiss, your perfume

The memory of them
is what keeps me from dementia
Each of your letters I keep
And I read them until
You set my heart on fire

Wait for me, please wait
for when I can again be your lover
I am yours alone
Please remain only mine

Nice idea for a competition, and nice rules. See if you can spot where it's hidden, although I think its a bit obvious for mine. :)

Up in the clouds, through the rivers,
Nowhere near this place of shadows.
Down there with you, I wish to be,
Everthing to be the way it should be.

Right now I'm thinking of you,
Drowning in my tears just thinking of you.
Over these days, I am truly sorry,
Or with this gift I would not worry.

Right now I want to see you're face,
Many times I've longed to win this race.
A love that will last, 'though I did you wrong,
Today I want to give to you through this song.

Roses are red,
violets are blue,
the booty is under the bed
but I still love you.

Just joking, when I have some time, I'll put myself into it

This is about SSH's entry. Read on if you figured it out.

The ultimate letter part threw me off first. I was looking at the letters in "ultimate"  :-[ . Then I tried to look at your poem like I did auhsor's, and found the answer.

My love for you, shines like the sun,
Over meadows where we once roamed,
When wildflowers graced your hair,
And hardship we had not known.

Look to our secret grove,
Of passion, among the trees,
And there you'll find my heart,
Hidden beneath the leaves.

Here's mine... hope it's not too difficult...
[Maybe there are some few mistakes or rhymes that don't rhyme... but I'm not an Englishspeaker native...

Here I am in jail
writting in your mail
a little poem of love
thinking about what my dreams are made of

My mind goes to our little house,
where uncountless times I undressed your blouse.
Or in our sofa in the garage
where you used to give me my good-night massage.

Excuse me if I barely remember our study,
where we "created" our little Judie,
but just thinking of our bed
I can't take you out of my head

In our garden full of flowers,
where we spent delightful hours,
we had a precious lemon tree
under which leaves I kissed thee.

Here I can't get no clover,
but when all seems over,
I remember Monkey Island...

Where's the money?

DragonRose

Ding ding ding! Babar is a correct person!
Sssshhhh!!! No sex please, we're British!!- Pumaman

auhsor

Just a note. I'm not expecting to win, but I still have to sit out of the comp as I am about to leave for 2 weeks holiday :)

Blade

Do you remember how we kissed in the moonlight?
Do you remember our happiness in stars?
All that I've done was done for only your delight
And now I am here, writing from behind the bars.

Your love for me is much more than million bucks,
For you I would gladly challenge demons to fight.
But before I tell you how I weep on your lack
Please tell me, remember how we kissed in the moonlight?

There in the darkest shadows of an old oak tree
A bird sang it's song, not as beautiful as you.
More than anything in world I would like to be
In that place tonight with noone else but you.

Pretty obvious but my aim was to make it really look like a love poem.
Studies show that 50% of the people do not know they form half of the society.

..

#21
It would be unimaginable, if our love falters and dies.
So lets step forth, and use it twice, to find the last suprise

I love with you with and honest heart
I'm craving seeing you
I see you when I dream,
Loving you so true
Morbid would it be,
If the dream should be untrue
Every thought I have is leading
To the bond of me and you
I cannot live while we're apart
We're such a fantastic team
Together we can can bathe in glory
If you just see what I see

I hope someone get's it... do we get to tell people what it means eventually?

Bombadil

It seems that this competition is having success!

I don't get Scuthbert's one, but I'll try harder later...

btw, has anyone guessed mine?

InCreator

Aiee, my brain hurts!
Understanding love poems is a science by ittself, and now some secret messages... I'd like to really meet a girl who could crack stuff like that.
Really cool theme.

*starts over

..

If you're having trouble solving mine the solution is below

Spoiler
The solution is - CLOSET

Where is says 'So lets step forth' the word forth is a hint, take the fourth word of the poem 'Unimaginable' and when it says 'and use it twice' use the fourth reference again to find the fourth letter - 'M'

Then (kind of using the twice reference again) take the letter after every other M in the poem to get the clue.

Hopefully the wife would figure it out eventually... or clean the closet.

I'm having the same problem. I think we can't vote before we know all the "secret plans"... ^^

The bible code is that you take a number and then put the leters in rows of that number
e.g
use 5

text= bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla

put them in the rows
blabl
ablab
labla
blabl
ablab
labla

the answer = lbalba

Too criptic I think...

I think someone should come with another poetry competition, this one has had some participation and it'll be great another one...

I agree. I liked this comp, so it would be good for us to get the voting done and so we can start a new one.

Bombadil

Oh, I haven't voted yet! I thought I did that...

My vote goes for Scuthbert

Pelican

Hmmm...... my vote goes to Blade. Isn't the point of it to make it seem like a love poem?Ã,  :P

I also like Blades poem. It was more of a simple love poem than anything else. My vote goes to him.

Babar

hehe...someone must be really desperate for this to continue ;). For some reason, although there were many submissions, there were not so many votes. I can understand this, "judging" poetry is very difficult for me. It took me a long time to decide who to give my vote to. However, since Blade got the most votes, yeah, start up the new one Blade
