PUZZLE TIME

Rules: Every week a post will be made with a list of items and a scenario. Using your wit, skill and lack of mental health; find a way to complete the scenario with the items provided. You can only use a set number of items of your own choice. When I say use your skill, use it. For example: you have a boulder and a reinforced window. I advise not using Pick Up boulder chuck through window. Think of something adventuresque to use
Voting: After the week voting shall commence!
What If I win?: The winner chooses the next scenario and list of items.

Scenario

A bungling, amateur archaeologist has gotten himself trapped inside an ancient temple after recovering (not stealing!) a priceless artifact. The entrance is now blocked by a huge stone slab, though a space big enough for a man to crawl through can be seen, and water is pouring in through a hole in the floor, likely from the river you saw outside early. Four large statues are found in the corners of the room, each reaching near the ceiling. In the hands of each of the statues is a basin filled with water and man-eating piranhas, currently immobile, but deadly once the water level reaches them - and they are lower than the ceiling or the slab's opening. Near one of the statues, a full skeleton lies with a bow and arrow in hand. Large vines cover the floor. The little light in the room comes from a skylight in the ceiling and your lamp. You must escape.

Bit of a long one;

LOOK AT stone slab.
Ã,  "There's a gap. I might just be able to squeeze through."
USE or WALK TO gap.
GET ATTACKED by python.
Ã,  You now have a few seconds to shake the python off. During this, the only available interaction is 'USE PYTHON on...'. If you don't get it in time, well, I hope you saved.
USE PYTHON on basin, to throw it to the pirahnas.
Ã,  Animation - the python thrashes around, with chomping noises and possible blood splatter. Python dies.
Ã,  "That's what you get for messing with me. Bitch."

USE or WALK TO gap.
Ã,  Animation - you crawl into the gap, but emerge a second later.
Ã,  "Blocked. Dammit."

LOOK AT water-spewing hole.
Ã,  "I could probably fit through there, but the current's too fast."
USE or WALK TO water-spewing hole.
Ã,  Animation - you take a deep breath, and jump into the water. You bob up again almost immediately, and pull yourself out.
Ã,  "The current's too fast."

PICK UP skeleton to get skull.
PICK UP small stones.
PICK UP large vines.
USE pocket knife on large vines, to cut a small piece.
USE stones on skull.
USE small piece of vine on skull and stones, to create a macabre, but effective, weight.
USE or WALK TO water-spewing hole.
Ã,  Animation - you take a deep breath, and jump into the water. Thanks to the macabre, but effective, weight, you stay under.
Ã,  CUTSCENE of you swimming under water, and reaching the bank of the river. Well Done.

NOTE: if you used the stones on the skull, but didn't secure them with the vine, you bob back out and say "I nearly made it , but I lost my stones" (or something similar but less crap). You then have to PICK UP more stones and try again. Same if you have the stones by themselves.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Item added: anti-height vertige pills

- get vines;
- get a feather from parrot;
- cut vines with knife;
- make rope with vines;
- get ribbon bone from skeleton;
- prepare ribbon with knife;
- tie it to rope;
- use ribbon bone/rope with pitton;
- slap pitton on its head so it stays a little stunned enough time so you can throw it
inside one of the statue's basins;
- ppitton eats all pirannas there and is assleep, so it's not a danger anymore;
- as you can't stand heights, take the pills;
- untie ribbon from rope;
- use knife with ribbon to make an harpoon;
- use harpoon with rope;
- climb statue using harpoon on a rope;
- tie harpoon on a rope with arrow;
- use feather on arrow, to "calibrate" this one;

The adventures of EDWARD! The bungling amateur archeologist!

LOOK at space small enough for a man to crawl through.
You: Hey, I could probably get through there...
USE space small enough for a man to crawl through.
You:Erk... Um... (sigh). I probably shouldn't've had those donuts before I got in here.
PICK UP skull from skeleton
You: It's rather large.
USE skull with hole gushing water.
You: Well that's taken care of, but how do I get out?
PICK UP vines.
You: That looks like all of them. Wait, there's one more.
LOOK at vine left over.
You: That's no vine! That's an asleep python!
USE revolver on python
POW
PICK UP dead python.
You: Hey! There's a venomous asleep snake
underneath!
USE revolver on venomous snake
POW AGAIN
PICK UP dead venomous snake
PICK UP one full basin.
EMPTY (USE) full basin on other full basin.
You: Now it's empty!
Use venomous snake on basin
Message: You squeeze the dead snake, and deadly poison squirts out into the basin.
You: Ew.

You: They're dead now.
Message: There was no significant reason in that, but you earned 5 extra points for it!
PICK UP bow and arrow
USE snake on arrow.
USE python on snake-arrow
USE vines on python-snake-arrow.
USE vine-python-snake-arrow on bow.
USE vine-python-snake-arrow-and-bow with skylight

Person:OWWWW!
BADLY INJURED PERSON topples over in the skylight.
USE badly injured person.
You: Hey! A credit card! Oh, and there's a grappling hook with rope too.
USE grappling hook with rope on skylight.
CHOK
USE rope.
Message: You climb up the rope, then cut the rope and shoot the skull with your revolver.
You: Now no one will ever have to take artifacts from there any more!
Message: Unwittingly, you forget about the badly injured man and the fact that you stole an artifact from a temple.
You: I'm going to give it to a museum!
Message: Sure. Right.
THE MAIN CHARACTER walks into the sunset.

EDIT: Responding to Lost Traveler's later post: I changed it. Added object: venomous snake underneath sleeping python.

Sorry if the rules let anyone place just a solution. I'd love to write one like this: get old lamp; use it; genie comes, and will satisfy one wish of yours. Based on that concept, here's an "easier"Ã,  ;) solution

Item added: old oil lamp;

- you try to move the altar stone, but you can't - yet;
- you give a look at the hole and there's a python there, prepared to attack; shoot it on its head with revolver;
- get python;
- if you throw python to pirannas, RELOAD or RESTART;
- get the stick;
- use the stick with althar stone;
- the stick breaks: you must use a stronger one;
- if you get a skeleton's bone, it's not strong enough, so it breaks too;
- get the shovel;
- use the shovel's handle with althar stone;
- look at hole to find an old oil lamp;
- get lamp, then look at it: it's like Alladin's lamp;
- rub lamp: a genie comes and asks you must perform a task before one wish is satisfied: eating a roasted spiced piranna, but as he couldn't use his powers for personal wishes, you must give him what he wants;
- get vines with knife;
- get bone from skeleton;
- use knife on bone to get hook;
- tie hook to vine;
- use knife with python;
- use a piece of python with bone hook;
- throw hook to basin;
- get piranna;
- prepare piranna with knife;
- get more vines;
- use vines on althar;
- use shovel on althar near vines to get fire;
- roast piranna;
- give it to gennie: no spices!
- get bullet from revolver;
- open bullet with knife to get powder;
- use powder with piranna;
- give it to gennie: not ready yet;
- get kerosene lamp;
- put a few drops of kerosene on piranna;
- give it to gennie;
- he doesn't like it yet...;
- get a few fresh vines;
- squeeze its juice on piranna;
- give it to genie;
- he doesn't like it yet...;
- use python on piranna to squeeze a few python's blood on the fish;
- give him piranna; now it's accepted and eaten;
- ask him to remove stone block: he finally does that;
- walk to exit.

Thanks, Redwall! :-) I suppose I need glasses...Ã,  :-[

Got those glasses at last, and read the little letters... Why so much "Schopenhauerianism"?Ã,  ;)

I assume you're referring to my signature, although I can't seem to find a definition of "Schopenhauerianism" anywhere through Google. If that's the case, it's mostly experience and my pessimism, which I can't really explain. (Ah, now I've got some links to Schopenhauer... interesting... I need to read more, though...)

On topic, it's great to see so many entries this time. And I suppose I should be happy with only getting killed three times out of all of those.

Redwall:

Thanks for your kind and sympa reply: I don't get it as a selfish gesture, did you?!Ã,  ;)

Yeah, your puzzle was very challenging, open to alotta possible solutions. Hope this time I'm not considered illogical or not consistent...Ã,  :-[
And if I've discovered this thread sooner I'd have posted sooner too: not to try to win, but to use my brain cells.

PS - About pessimism, I always remember Schopenhauer. I studied his philosophy at highschool, and I never liked it, as it defended that humanity should kill herself to give space for a better race (an alien one?!...)Ã,  well, he didn't follow his own philosophy himself, as he died almost a mummy, at ninety and a few...

Ishmael

I liked DragonRose's best... DARN, I got a great idea for this, but it's too late... :(  I hope you don't mind if I share it anyway, here goes:

- Python shows up, action scene, pick weapon: Stick.
- Hit Pyhton in head with Stick, Python pass out.
- Take Sleeping Python.
- Use Knife on Vines to get some of it.
- Take Skull from Skeleton.
- Put Vine into Skull.
- Put Skull into a Small Inward Lump on Altar.
- Use Lamp with Vine in Skull to light it.
- Use Lamp with Skull to poor kerosene into it, to create Another Lamp.
- Use Revolver once on each Basin, Pirrahnas fall to the floor.
- Use Lamp on Pirrahnas -> Poor kerosene on them.
- Use Stick on Skull Lamp to light it.
- Use Burning Stick on each Pirrahnas once to light them.
- Wait for time to pass, untill the water is high enough for you to reach the Gap in the Stone Slab.
- Crawl through the Gap.
- Turn Map To Temple to find the Map Of Temple on the other side.
- Use Map Of Temple to navigate out of the temple.
- Use special item: Viagra pills on Python.
- Wait.
- Smash DragonRose with Stiff Python for stealing my original idea.

Hee hee...
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.
