Hehe I like this
Well, although I really did not do much about this this year so far, please feel free to take a look of the demo of "Fan Club"   :=

Cool trailer Ahmet! I had to jack my gamma up though. I couldn't see anything except the blue text the first time through.

But with everyone releasing stuff when we're still weeks away from the deadline, it seems like there will only be a handful of us who actually release something on "Release Something Day"!

This feels like opening my Christmas presents early!

Kinoko

Yes, I think we should stop once and for all. June 25, people! Let's leave this topic alone until then. Maybe someone can lock it *hint hint*

The whole idea is that this deadline encourages us to work on things that aren't done yet... even if you have something ready now, maybe you can polish it up a bit more until the deadline.

Right. That's it though. No more entries until June 25!

Gilbert

hehe Aknowledged.

If any of us forgets to unlock it after meeting the deadline, please PM. ;)

In honor of our long, hallowed tradition of "Release Something Day", I am submitting a movie for my upcoming Barn Runner: The Forever Friday. It is in AVI format and compiled with the CinePak codec - the most generic codec of all so everyone can enjoy it! Hopefully, this will spark interest in my upcoming game and everyone can appreciate how truly magnificent it will be! *

But don't take my word for it. Read what this highly credible and completely unbiased fictional person had to say after seeing The Forever Friday Teaser Movie.

Everyone, if I may have your attention please. As you will see, this preview clearly demonstrates the awesome potential for enjoyment the as-yet-to-be-released game "The Forever Friday" may - and indeed could - provide.

Sure to surpass even the lowest of expectations, this game features Barn Runner's trademark hand-drawn animation and Colorformâ,,¢ inspired design with the bold outlines and the primary colors and the little people... just stick them where ever you want them... with the licking... they just stick right there... Unsanitary.

Where was I? Oh, yes!

The Hype-O-Meter is off the chart here! This game will be so HUGE that it will require some sort of "Debigulator" simply to permit it to fit on the internet without displacing all the pornography and poorly-informed political opinions that are clogging your browsers even as we speak!

Good glayvyn, people! What are you waiting for? Start right now with the clicking and the downloading and the watching at the low, low price of free! **

You can't argue with phony testimony like that! Just click below to start the Barn Runner experience.

The movie is available in two different forms of compression (or "Debigulation", if you will): ZIP and RAR. And there is a mirror available for each type. Just click whichever one suits you and download away!

RAR Format (3.64 Megabytes)
(Mirrored Here)

ZIP Format (4.87 Megabytes)
(Mirrored Here)

Once unpacked (i.e. "Rebigulated") the movie is 25.2 Megabytes.

I hope you enjoy it!

Awesome, Ponch!  Lots of reloading animations.  Looks fantastic.  It looks like you have a sidekick of somesort in this time around.

Anyrate, here's my offering for "Release Something!" day.

Some time ago I released a small demo of "Without a Prayer."  Today, I'm releasing a MUCH BIGGER demo. Woo!  It's about three times as big as the original.

Get it HERE:
http://www.davelgil.com/ags/RON/prayerDemo.zip

Step into the shoes of Rasputin Finch, travelling preacher and conman, as he tries to convert the godless heathens of Reality on the Norm and build his tabernacle in the process.

Here are some dialog snippets

Enjoy!

Now that I've seen these release something entries I feel like I've made a half assed attempt. But I'm happy I've at least done something.

Ponch

Cameron - Nice brooding piece. Is that the theme song for your game?

Dave - Thanks for the kind words. The game is sort of my homage to all the games I loved as a kid. Not just adventure games but also stuff like Spy Hunter and Operation Wolf. The three reloading animations are the only three weapons you have in the game but all those sequences along with the flying sequences are completely optional. The game even plays out slightly differently if you opt to disable them from the menu so it won't feel like something was "chopped out".

I'm playing the Without a Prayer demo. Very cool. If more preachers built tabernacles like that I might go to church more often! I'm stuck in the jail at the moment but I'll tackle it with a fresh perspective tomorrow. Have to take my SO to see Batman tonight.

Any idea when Without a Prayer will be released?

Hopefully, all the Release Something offerings will be as good as the ones I've seen so far!

I'm thinking of making a RON game. I've got the basic outline but I need some help writing and getting my ideas in order.

I hope it's okay to post non-AGS games, too! ^^

I started a small project after reading the 'release something' thread. That was about two weeks ago. Now, for the first time in my life (really), I actually finished a game.

It can be downloaded at http://www.origamihero.com/files/kitty.zip.
It's a small platformer in the style of older SEGA/SNES games, called A Game with a Kitty.

I never would have made this game if it weren't for this thread... I think this showed me that making small games is fun and the chance of me actually finishing them is muchly much higher. Now back to Hero Theorem~

Wow, these have been great so far.  I especially loved the Barn Runner video, and Ponch should get mucho bonus pointos (that's Spanish for "a lot of bonus points") for his creative presentation.  Big props to Kinoko for this idea!  I think there should be a Release Something every month or every two months.  Hopefully people will actually understand that they are supposed to work on something new and not post it until the release date...

I decided when I first read Kinoko's idea for Release Something that I would finally start the "In Production" thread for my in production game.  But since it was this thread that got me to surge ahead, I'll post it here first (only to be posted minutes later in GIP).

So, without further adieu (French for "ado"):

This game has a dirty mind, which doubles as a heavily animated in-game menu!
Help the detective reconstruct the events of that fateful day at the Hicks' Home... err... double-wide!  Get in to the minds of both members of the Hicks family to reenact their over-the-top, back-and-forth, all-out war!  Decode their secret messages to help you make your next ridiculous move!  But, since you're playing as both characters, you'd better be able to plan ahead and block each attack, or it will be lights out for one of them!

And if he drops this one, he's got a backup remote.  He calls her "Lurleen."
Step into the shoes of Tubby Hicks ("Hey, but he ain't wearin' no shoes!") as he launches an all out offensive on that loud mouthed wife of his by using only the items he can reach from the couch... because what's the point of doing anything if you have to leave the couch to do it?

To Do: -Pick up eggs -Feed the dog -Eliminate your husband -Iron
Enter the kitchen of Lurleen Hicks.  Who are those secret love letters from?  She can't remember, but she's certainly not going to let a little thing like being married get between her and her love for... whoever it is.

Is that the smell of... MURDER?!  Nope... No... It's just mold.

The stage is set, the pieces are in place, and the cold ones are cold, let the battle begin!  Who will survive and who will wind up wearing a toe-tag?  Play Domestic Conspiracy and find out!

Features:
  • First person perspective
  • Stylized cartoon graphics
  • Animated cut-scenes
  • Voice acting
  • An innovative, user-friendly, and seamless interface
  • More than thirty contextual cursor graphics
  • Hint system via the detective's observations

This has been in production for a long time and a lot of care is going into it.  (The secret ingredient is love.)  Unfortunately, after my recent wedding and finding out that there's a baby on the way, I've got a lot less love to go around.  Things have been quite busy around here, but I've been continuing to diligently plug away at this game.  Though, obviously, production is not moving as quickly as it used to.   Because of the fluctuating time that I'm able to devote to the project, I'm not willing at this point to estimate a release date.  But, one thing is certain: I will finish this game.

Alun

Bernie: Wow.  If you can produce something like that in two weeks, I really want to see what you'd come up with if you devoted more time to a project.  Seriously, that kitty game is really good--I haven't finished it yet (made it to Windy Whiskers), but it's loads of fun so far.

Anyway, now for my own contribution: I'm just starting out on a game called Pith and Peg.  (Actually, the full title will be Pith and Peg: The Subtitle I Haven't Decided Yet, except that of course the "Subtitle I Haven't Decided Yet" part will be replaced by, well, a subtitle I haven't decided yet.)  Since I've just started it, I don't have much to show yet; I want to get all the puzzles firmed up before I start work on the backgrounds, so I know exactly what's going to be needed, and without backgrounds, well, there's not a lot else I can do.  But, in honor of Release Something day, I decided to whip up some sprites of the two main characters.  These are not necessarily finalized versions, and some of the details may change, but in any case these are at least roughly what the main characters are going to look like:

Sir Pittheus          Pegleg McGrue

Projected release date for the game: probably some time in the spring or summer 2006.  Yeah, it's going to be a while, but at least I've now got something to show, however small...

I'm sorry to say this but it looks like I have to release the Demo for Caribbean Mysteries after deadline.

Edit: Sorry, I read it wrong so I thought it was an non-adventure game, not non-AGS game.

I'm going to guess that it's not an AGS game :P

Well, I wasn't really going to release anything so soon, but after many requests I present:

The Curse of Darkmoor Manor Tech Preview!!

http://darkmoor.shadowreality.co.uk/Darkmoor_Manor_Tech_Release.rar

You can find story details and such in the acr thread, and PLEASE do not forget this is a tech demo only.  There is no game yet, but the framework for the game is completely in place (such as the TerrorMeter).  I know about the bugs and Steve and I are working to gradually get something playable done.

Here is a game I made ages ago before anything else you would have played by me. Its the one I broke my teeth on so to speak.
It was going to be an epic but I never finnished it to it's full potential.
I have however made the finished part into a complete mini game - that is playable and finishable, although the puzzles are strange - but hey thats how I made them when I first started.
I hope it's a little enjoyable at least.
It has a long and unessesary title that has nothing to do with the game but I left it as it was because it's animated and looks cool.

It is fixed

You need to download both files and extract them into one folder.

Right click to scroll through the two cursors and the inventory is the little i gui in the top righthand corner.
Enjoy!
