Hello dear Sprite Jammers,

since we are living in times, where old leaders are dying, and new leaders are on the rise, where elections are colliding with emotions and populism is on a new all time high all over the globe, I want this thread to be about people in power.

You can recreate living or dead tribe leaders, dictators or prime ministers of the world as well as invent the next Big Boss of a utopian (or dystopian for the pessimists...) future. Or perhaps you are more into monarchs, and/or - allegedely - godsend people like kings, emperors, tzars, sultans and anyone else whose head is big enough for a crown or a bonapartian hat. Your character could also be the Cockroach queen of a bug state in your basement if that is what you've been worried about for all your life... (wtf)

The only rule is:
The character must have any kind of political power (No magic, jedi-force and stuff like that!)
If it isn't obvious, what kind of power he or she or it has, please explain it in one sentence.

For your endless efforts I can offer you the following sweet trophies !

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/8Vr7C8F.gif[/imgzoom] King of them all!

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/bMsmswx.gif[/imgzoom] All hail the merkelian rhombus!

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/FVH8enD.gif[/imgzoom] POTUS of the Month!

You have time for participating until the 27th of december 23:59 MET.

Happy Spriting! 8-)

There are no lizard overlords.
We are not secretly running the planet.
It is all filthy lies.
Walk on. Nothing to see here.

Kumpel

Oh look! It's a lizard overlord. Uh no it isn't... They don't exist. We all know that.

Anyway, thanks for breaking the silence in here with a neat first sprite, Grok!

Blondbraid

This princess not like all the other princesses who are "not like all the other princesses".
She doesn't daydream of running away from her royal life, she wouldn't be caught dead wearing pants and she sure as heck doesn't know karate.
She is perfectly content in doing things befitting a royal princess, such as singing, dancing, looking for suitable suitors, applying drops of belladonna to make her eyes appear larger and
rigorously study Il Principe by Niccolò Machiavelli.

Kumpel

True power often is hidden under a weak surface...

Thanks for giving Grok a challenge here so soon :)
Btw, I envy you for having developed a unique artistic style. The right curl alone somehow screams BLONDBRAID at me (laugh)
(that of course applies to both of you (nod))

Blondbraid

Why thank you!

I do like Grok's lizard overlord as well,
and I'm looking forward to see what other entries show up here!

CaesarCub

Here is one of the most evil people in power. Not only is he real, he has a reign of terror in the North Pole, where he forces what can only be children in elf costumes to work all year at his malevolent sweatshop.
When kids go missing, it's because he needs to reinforce his workforce.

Kumpel

This guy is cruel to the core! I know of his habit to never answer any of the billions of letters from sweet children all over the world :(
I like the way you are thinking, CaesarCub... :D

Kumpel

Just a friendly reminder that any potential participants have got 7 days left to upload there powerful entries! :)

Priabudiman

If it reaches the deadline, but is still incomplete. Send it in anyway. I've seen plenty of unfinished entries do brilliantly. :-D

Misj'

Same starship captain, three renditions.

Decided to go for thin single-pixel outlines to make animation a bit easier (if I ever were to animate them).
Also, I wanted tot use black as a basis for my colouring (simply because I like the effect, but also because
I haven't done it in a while). The characters had to fully work without any colours added, so black had to be
used to add depth, define shapes, and create a focal-point. The colouring itself is basically flat (the first
version had a bit more shadings, but these are really created using a layer set to overlay and using black
and white to draw), which should make it easier to work with.

EDIT: And because I'm really bad at PixelArt (having no experience whatsoever)

(hay, the deadline has passed, so this kinda doesn't count anyway...)

A merry belated Christmas! It was a nice surprise to see two more entries!

Time is up NOW and voting begins on these magnificent 5 entries:

There are indead lizard overlords in here, thanks to GROK.

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/tUPUg5h.png[/imgzoom]
This "Il Principe" reading belladonna is the work of BLONDBRAID.

[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/bEDsReF.png[/imgzoom]
And even a whiplashing Knecht Ruprecht aka Father Christmas Santa Clause found his way in here through CEASARCUB.

Starship Captain by MISJ is so powerful, He even defied space and deadline time! (laugh)

King: 0
Queen with sharp arguments by HOBO: 1

Happy voting until 10th of january!

Grok

We just vote for the winner of our choice then?

This is hard. Excellent entries all.
And all of course are Lizard Overlords in disguise ... I mean NONE of them is a Lizard Overlord in disguise ...none at all.

My vote goes to the chubby guy in the red underwear, with the big whip. Santa by Ceasarcub.

Creamy

Since there can be only one, I vote for Hobo's king slayer.
Yet, they are all worthy pretenders in their own style.

Danvzare

Oh this is a real tough one.
But after much deliberation, I have to give my vote to Hobo.

Cassiebsg

I'll cast my vote for MISJ's many renditions of the Starship Captain, I just love that clean perfect cartoon style. (nod)
But good work everyone, wish I could vote for all, cause you all winners!
There are those who believe that life here began out there...

[delete}

I vote for Misj', wonderfully expressing how much unexplored territory there is still in 1px borders. Also I like the starfleet uniform colors, reminds me a lot of Tim Allen's Galaxy Quest.
If only Misj' would craft a playable adventure, with lovely animated characters and lavish backgrounds.. *sigh*

My second-favorite entry is the irascible Sinterklaas by Caesarcub. Me was always more scared and refused to recite my learned poem when such costumed actor in Santa costume visited my family... [/anecdote]

Hobo

My vote goes to Misj'. A neat concept and great execution. I also like the amount of thought and reasoning put into this sprite, which is completely opposite to my style of cluelessly pushing pixels around until something sort of happens :).
