Hello ladies and Gents!

I aparently won the last contest, so it's my honor and privillage to present this weeks!

The theme here is "Found Sound"

Explainer:  The object here is to make a full musical work of at leat 3 minutes in length that incorporates as a major part of the song a "found sound"  something recorded from everyday life or not everyday life.  The sound cannot be: sampled from any kind of musical instrument or a recording of speech.  The sound may be run through any effects you wish or chopped up however you want.  By major part of the compistion I mean that it cant be a one shot deal thrown into the song at some point,  I mean doing something like using the sound of a door salmming as part of the drums. You can even make the entire track out of found sounds, but it must have some form of musical struture, no noise tracks please.

Entries will be judged on both how the sound is used and how creative you are in what sound you use.

Good luck to all!

My song: "Destroy The Intruder(c64 sample remix)"

Okay, most of the sounds were recorded with a mic from my c64 :)
The robot talking samples are from Berzerk, a lovely arcade game.
All other samples are made with either with cellphone ringtones(heavily edited), a ruler, my hand, a bottle and a wallet doing something near the mic :)

Edit: ARGH! It had to be THREE minutes. HOW did I read TWO :(

Well, it's 2.28 :(

Leks, are we allowed music in the background, as long as the 'found sounds' are contributing to the melody?
Peter: "Being faggy isn't bad!"
AGA: "Shush, FAG!"

He said you don't need to make the entire song out of found sounds, you just need give them a major part..

This sounds like a fun contest. I've always wanted to do someting like this..

EDIT:

Here's my thing..

Mummy Found Sound (Right-Click + "Save As")

Stupid Anonymizer link

To get the basic drum sounds I hit my desk with a microphone (Never do this unless your microphone already sucksÃ,  :P). I hit my mouse pad to get a kick drum sound, and hit the mouse itself to get kind of a woodblock sound, then dicked around with some distortion and compression. Then I added the good old cheek-pop, and later some real drum sounds come in. The sound in the intro is just a pick slide I sampled on my guitar. I just ran a quarter between the two highest wound strings and got that..

Holy shit Ben! That's excellent as always!

Sounds really good compo, cheers C. I shall enter if I get my mic back from my friend soon enough.

bury the hatchet, long live the cruise missile

A bit cheap/kitschy/repetitive/bleh, but it was fun to make. I used sounds made by closing a cupboard (a creak and a click), closing my wardrobe, biting an item of snackage, and tapping a mug with my finger. (plus a bunch of synth stuff, naturally)

Here's my entry.

Sounds like music

I beatboxed a bit and then sampled kick, hihat and snare out of that. Then I recorded several handclaps and mixed them and result doesn't sound much like handclap, but I used it anyways. Then there are those bongo-like sounds going on the background almost all the time, those were made by drumming plastic container and then adding some effects on them. When the tune was about finished it sounded a bit empty, I recorded some crappy vocal samples... the whole tune turned out to be a bit repetitive.

If you liked this one, look forward to EP coming some time in the future...
