Title: Sprite Jam Oct. 1-8
Post by: big brother on Sat 01/10/2005 09:39:12
My apologies for not posting this thread sooner (my thinking cap had a flat tire).

The contest of this week is:

Draw a musician sprite

!

Your sprite must depict a musician playing or holding an instrument. You could choose a famous musician, like Boner from Yoo-Too holding a microphone, or you could invent one, like Gigatron, the android with two souls who plays the toms on the dried skulls of his enemies. I just made the last one up, so please don't steal it (I may have other plans for it).Ã,

Also, I will frown upon any entry that takes liberties with the word "instrument." I am referring to music, so don't draw a scalpel or anything else that would stretch the rules.

At maximum, the sprites can be 100x100 with 32 colors.

The best way to win... trying to copy the style of this week host!

I failed misarabilly though...  :'( Too much colors and too little talent. Well,I did it using my style  :). Not sure if it is a good entry, as it is a mini portrait better than a sprite, but... I enjoyed making it. He is John Lennon.

NICE! Farl automatically deserves to win. Even if he just pooped on a tablet and rubbed it around a bit (although I think that might require running a bit of electrical current through the poo) just calling it "John Lennon" makes it deserve to win.

Not to mention the fact that it's a pretty good John Lennon, at that.

Man, I resized a pic, put some pixels here and there in a new layer to make it morphologically perfect, and then finishing it almost from scratch, not just pooped in a tablet and rubbed it around a bit! A little bit of respect!  :D

tuomas and corey - please stop cluttering up this thread.  This is a competition, not a discussion.

Now ... to avoid being hypocritical;

Sorry to stick in again, but how do you upload your pics here without the coloured backround like Darth's and Floskfinger's? ???

Don't wish to flood, so I continued dthis one wondering here wherther I can even make them transparent with MSPaint and how...?

Misterskipperdoo inspired me to make a last minute entry. I hope it's not too late:

Don Foogi the Qawali Master.

Beh....I gave Don Foogi a harmonium, albeit a rather ugly one:

Misterskippido and Babar's are evenly matched, I think. Both of them have lots of cooless.

Wow, a lot of good entries early on, and then things tapered off. Although Farlander, Floksfinger, and Krysis all posted solid entries, I'm going to have to go with Darth on this one. A very creative choice, and a sax player, too!

Congrats!

Wowzers!  I really didn't see that coming!  Thanks!

I tip my hat to Farlander (who's pixeling skills just keep improving!!) and the rest who entered as well.

I'll whip up a new jam ASAP!

Thanks again!

It's nice to see that the average quality is getting higher and higher. Especially Farlander's and Floskfinger's sprites stand out as awesome, imo.
