Ok. First of all I'd like to see who's interested in this, so I'm going to post two different ideas initially and you people can tell me what you want to do. When we have decided, I will post the exact rules for the contest.

So this contest can be either to

~~write music (soundtrack) for a porn film~~

or to

write a scary weird lullaby for a child monster, which is also a bit crazy

You choose, post your preferences (which of the two), and on Sunday, or sooner if I see that everyone wants the same thing, I'll let you know of all the details. Unless this is all wrong, in which case I'll have a moderator on my back and I will have to change this post.

In the meantime, let me know which do you think is better/more fun...

I might be tempted to agree. However, there's a difference between immature and challenging.

EXAMPLES:

immature: Okay guys <snicker snicker> let's do a Sprite Jam with porn stars. The more nudity the better, and the bigger the boobs, the better your chances of winning.

challenging: porn music. Have you ever heard what is considered "porn music?" I recently heard some interesting new jams by a local group in my area called the Felonious Monks that were branded "porn music." It was actually really intriguing and sounded pretty cool, and was done tastefully.

However, I do like the monster lullaby.

The porn soundtrack one has already been done, actually, with pretty decent results I may add. And to a lesser extent, the lullabye concept has also been touched upon, though unless you count Greg as a crazy child monster, not to quite the same specifications.

It's been long enough that either could be reprised, of course, and with the added 'crazy child monster' stipulation on the lullabye, it definitely adds a new dimension to the composition. I may or may not be down for participating in the competiton, depending on how much time I have this week, regardless of the theme.

'Course, with the porn music idea, I'd get to try and simulate a wakka-chikka.

I think porn music sounds pretty interesting. You ever see The Simpsons episode Valentine's Day, where they accidentally give Maggie that sexy song? I'd like to hear what a real one would sound like. And no, "Give It Away" doesn't count, because that is rap krap.

Ok. The theme, after a lot consideration is as follows:

Write a lullaby for a kid monster going to sleep

The deadline is next Sunday, just a little longer than a week, so that you have one and a hlaf weekend to work on it.

Any instrumentation, Any format (ogg, midi, mp3...)

The only restriction is that it must not be normal.

Do what you want but make it sound as weird as possible. And you are free to give your meaning to the word weird.
Some ideas are: mess with the sounds. Mess with the tonality. Mess with the rhythm. Mess with sound fx

Judgement will be bassed on the primarily on the music concept and not on the realisation (although it may count), cause I can understand that not all of you have the neccessary equipment...

To make a porn-track does not mean that you support porn. Just like drawing a warrior-sprite doesn't mean you support violence, and playing a pirate-game, for that matter, doesn't mean you support crime.

Here we are:

The most lullaby like track of the three was Stefanos' work.
But I won't judge on that, since I let dkhs' entry I also let Guybrush.

Anyway.

All three were completly original and completly weird.

dkh: Great piece of work. Not a lullaby but deifnately a worthy piece of music. There's nothing bad I can comment on here.

Guybrush Peepwood: Great guitar playing! And the bass gives a creapy air to the piece. Very well thought. The only thing I would change would be in the mix. I would lower the guitar volume, just a little bit.

Stefano: Amazing. The idea of using only your voice? Great! Of the three this one has the most lullabyish (?!) qualities. I'm not sure if you were controlling the rhythm and the tone, or you "lost" it a little, but it doesn't make any difference how you did it. It was weird and exactly what this competition was about.

I never thought it would be so difficult to judge but here goes:

The winner is dkh!
