What BOYD said...

either way chosing a winner from 3-4 entries is fine. But from 15+ is kinda hard and akward. I don't think that he had in mind that kind of popular contest :D

The bestest contest ever :D

He-Man

Voting would be a good idea if he doesn't show up soon.
But hey, give the man a little time. It's only been like a day since the contest ended...
Also, I would love to see a small review of every song like there usually is after a tune contest. If we just vote that probably won't happen. Unless of cause some one else does it...
I can't wait to find out who's the winner!

LGM

You. Me. Denny's.

I have been looking at this topic from it's very begining. No worries that I would forget about it, and I have also listened to all the songs allready, I'll anounce the winner and a review (review=my opinion) of each song, hopefuly sometime today :) have phun

Hey, I expected to be evaluated and categorized! How can I go on? Has it all been in vain? Oh lord, obviate my digital demise!
I, object.

BOYD1981

this is really ridiculous, the guy has been active on the forums lately but seems to just be ignoring the thread and i doubt that based on how he's hosted this one he'll ever be chosen to be the winner of any other competitions.
so i think it's up to us to decide a winner ourselves.

I was inspired by a painting hanging in our house, the painting I'm showing here looks almost the same.

The song

And it seems that the quality of the song went worse when I converted it to mp3, sorry about that...

my short entry, made from a birdsong sound font and edited piano playing by yours truly.

Though I have no chance against professional pieces already entered this competition, here's my pic & song:

I've been watching these competitions for a long time now and have been afraid of posting because of my weak English (yes, you can call me vain), but finally I brought myself to join one, too.

Sorry for the Download-Link, but I just realized that if you listen to a streamed Midi-File, it loses all of its quality and atmosphere. Anyway the download shouldn't take you longer than 2 seconds + waiting time, for it's a tiny little Midi.

I messed up the end a bit, but this bulky Midi-accordion is so damn hard to play ;)

The final duel has just begun! Robot vs. robot, Midi vs. MP3 and OGG! Will outdated technology be able to triumph over the orotund top-notch VST-plugin driven and highly appealing sounds of nowadays? No way, might one want to say...But MIDI is far more vicious than ANYONE would think...

edit: Uhm, the scenery's in the background. That sea or lake or something. I'm not missing the point here, you see.

Okay, I'll confess... I found the pic on-line, but the music is all me.  I originally wrote this music for a video game version of Magician's Nephew but after Lion Witch & the Wardrobe came out... Well, you understand.

I felt it necessary to further prove I have no idea how to make music:

Edit: Changed picture. Better, Steel Drummer?

I was forced to make a joke entry by my negative equivalent from that lame good-is-evil universe. Y'know, that one from Star Trek.

Hi! This thread made me wonder really big, because I have lots of themed tracks.
Here is one:

http://www.zone.ee/inkspot/urbanisatsioon.mp3 - Driving on a highway set in rural area, reaching to the city step-by-step.

I don't know if this suites for the competition though. It is not very gameish and was done long before this thread existed. I don't have any whatsoever musical education or knowledge of notes, so yeah, track may be a bit goofy since it is only based on my 4 years of practical experience.

Oh well, maybe I'll do another, more gameish background track just for this competition for the 15-th.

here is the tune http://www.lumpcity.co.uk/~boyd1981/fishes.ogg
and here is the picture. it's from the original flash version of the game flOw (http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/)

i've made the music so that it will loop seamlessly if your player doesn't create a slight delay when repeating.

Inferno!
I am cheating a little bit, as this tune is also for another competition. But why the heck no? :-\

I finally manage to make a some what desent mix out of this song.
I'm not completely happy with the result yet but I decided to enter before it was too late.
Here's the picture:

And here's the song:

I also thought of the picture below when making this song but I thought it was too offensive to actually use for my entry...

Feel free to pick the picture you find most fitting...

Enjoy!

This is the biggest post ever, but probably necessary from what I feel.

The above are the entries, with the images.

go ahead and vote.

My vote goes to: BOYD1981!

PS. If needed, let me know and I'll remove all the pics to links. Just thought it would be best for now, so that someone can see them all at once. Could be misguided by my fast internet connection thought...

I vote for BOYD1981.
He did something kinda like I did, but !alot! better.
Really deep.

Er... nikolas... how long will the vote be open? We can't vote forever you know.

BOYD1981

i really love Oz's track (especially the bassline) and it goes brilliantly with the picture.
so my vote goes to Oz.

He-man

I think he made the most suitable song for his picture

kaputtnik

My vote goes to Meat because his tune is the one I would like to hear in a good adventure game. And because he chose his picture nicely, I got really lost while listening to his tune and looking at the picture, pondering where this could be or what the occasion of this could be.
I, object.
