oh good lord, it feels like i did that so many times squinky...

but anyway, all beaten

the art is real nice and i agree with peaceman that the backgrounds could have used a little animation but other than that i love how far you're art has come

this game tricks you with the old lucasarts style of "Everything has a name but you can only interact with half of it" which leads to a more immersive environtment but a frustrated eric, maybe i'm just a bad adventure gamer but there were a few things in the game that i wanted to try but couldn't even thought they seemed logical.

Spoiler
like getting across the chasm, they say how one person used a log to get across so i tried cutting down trees but i couldn't and why oh why couldn't i open that other red door? hehe and where the hell did the turtle go? was he just hopped up on coffee and running around?
[close]

anyways it's a nice game and i like the repeated crotch biting [obviously] and the headless guys were awesome

woop woop

Heh, I'm really glad you enjoyed it man. This was the absoulute first time I've ever tried lucas arts style, and that may be why I was a bit of an "amatuer" with some of the interactions, But I'll admit I threw in a few things to throw people off a bit...red herrings or whatever they're called....

It's funny to read this thread and see what people wanted to do, I never even thought of cutting down trees...heh...but that is a logical solution really...

I had planned to make the bg's animated and I was going to fancy up the skys, but theres a point when you have to just say it's done, and I had made myself promise not to get too carried away and turn this into another fry2....

Anyways, thanks everyone for playing, and I really appreciate the feedback. I'm going to take these all into account on the next one...

Spoiler
Hi, I just walked into the room with the hammock. I'd gotten the hammock some time ago, and killed the snake and given it to the healer. I was carrying the knife, the cup of coffee, the warning, and a bone. The game just died on me.

I'm trying to finish it! Really!
I'm loving it. I just need to save more often!

that was beautiful..

The graphics were good, the animations smooth, the puzzles made me think over and over.. -gasp-

brilliant work man.

Hey Squinkster,

Just finished playing this, and I am mighty pleased.  The dialog was fun, the puzzles were logical, the graphics were nice, and the ending had me laughing!   Had a smile on my face from start to finish. It makes me want to replay Fry 1, since it's been ages since I played it.

Now get a-working on Fry2...

-Dave

Ben

I love this game. I just finished it yesterday, and I loved the ending. This is your best game so far. I think Eric's right- it could use more animation. But the graphics are still great. Good luck with Fry 2..

Steve

I think I'll ask you to beta-test next time, cause your like cursed with an ability to find bugs...heh. Anyway, I'm going back on to my weekend now, so I'll whip up another version without all these little bugs...

Ben, Dave, PureghostGR
I am really glad you liked it. And like ben I feel like this is my best game yet...So, yeah....
And this is the first game ending I've ever made that I thought was pretty good, so I'm glad you liked it dave...

Damnit, I found out the ending before actually getting to the ending, and I still haven't really finished it.

Spoiler
I think it must have been the older version, cause I could just walk across the chasm, I downloaded it again and I couldn't replicate it but I can replicate it on the first version with a saved game I have.

Just another thing, you can give the healer the mint leaves early and she still asks you to get her some, and I don't know whether you got the last one I wrote, looking at the fruit on the ground at the beach before you pick it up still says it's 10 feet in the air.

and I'm stuck

Spoiler

I can't keep the guy in the shed, there is no interactions possible on the shed once you put the rock infront of it. But you still can't get the ladder, maybe you don't need the ladder or trap the guy.

so how do you get across the chasm, am I missing something

I have stick, warning, broken lock, bone, pass, lighter, open paint and dynomite, and I feel I've tried everything

I think It's quite a hard game actually, I've got this far on my own and still haven't properly finished it, so well done, I'm usually pretty good at cracking puzzles.

I'm still looking forward to fry 2 which will probably be released after fry 7, but I'm sure it will be the best one.

Edit: I finished it, an Enjoyable game, just a pitty I saw the ending earlier.
love all the dialogs, very funny, I loved the colours, the end scene was a bit short, but it was still funny.

well done, bring on fry 2

Man, I'm sorry about that. Hope it didn't ruin it too much for you. Of all the bugs to get, I gotta get a bug that lets you beat the game early...bah!
And the other bug about the fruit will be fixed soon...so thanks again and I'm glad you played it through all the way even though you saw that damned bug...

I second that totally, except for the finished part... Bloody turtle... :)
Great game, Squinky!

jason

Excellent game, Squinky!
+ The humor was plentiful
+ Logical puzzles
+ The graphics were beautiful
+ Great music selection
+ Awesome ending!

The only minor complaint I have is that those messages like "The knife cannot be used on the stove" (I can't remember the exact wording nor can I look it up because I'm at work) were more irritating than helpful.

Nonetheless, great game and can't wait for the sequel... err, prequel! ;)

Alan

Twice tried to play the game, froze my PC on the large dog screen twice. Had to re-boot.

First off, thanks to Jason, Remixer and Rincewind for your coolness in liking the game. You are getting christmas cards this year....even you remixor, I've forgiven you for not having a neck....

Alan
I sincerly apologize about this problem, but of course I have no idea why it would do that. If you have similair probs with other ags games, I would recomend checking out the tech forum on this site....maybe that could help you. If it is just my game though, the answer is simple.

My game hates you.

It's okay, it hates me too. Good luck either way.

Alexis Vale

Pressing F5 will invoke the power of the ags savegame god. So enjoy this feature, and save a game for me will ya?

Have fun
