Created in two weeks for the Adventure X Jam 2024.

A young boy awakens in a strange set of rooms at the top of a tower. He is told that he is to become the 'Anchorite', and must follow three commandments:

Thou shalt complete the daily tasks.

Thoug shalt not look upon the sullied.

Thou shalt not leave the tower.

He is told that he must do this to reach enlightenment, and that it is not only for his own good, but for the good of the city.
Many years pass, and the Anchorite adapts to his new life, until he sees something unexpected at the window, and his life, which had seemed so safe and serene, begins to unravel...

Great little game here.  Loved the story, the ambient, and it's beautiful!
You could write Doctor Who episodes.  (nod)

I first played version 1.0.0 and didn't quite understand the game... then I realized I had experienced a bug! When I played version 1.0.4, everything made perfect sense. The visual style reminded me of Simon the Sorcerer—in fact, the Anchorite kinda reminds me of "Runt, the farmboy" physically.

Spoiler
Even though I sort of saw it coming, I really enjoyed the Truman Show-style plot twist.

The music fits perfectly with the atmosphere. Great little game, indeed.

Ah yes, the two week game jam limit meant that testing wasn't as in depth as I would have hoped, but I was able to iron it out after a couple of days thankfully.

I love Simon the Sorcerer, I have so many fond memories of the first one on my Amiga, good times.

The music was by Bernardo Uzeda (a composer from Brazil who works on a lot of Netflix shows) and is doing the music for Carnival and hopefully The Tragic Loss of M. Slazak too, he's fantastic. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
