Title: A new character (re-updated)
Post by: La Lore on Mon 29/09/2003 18:52:34
This is my first pic of a character made with the computer.
Farlander is teaching me how to paint with the comp.
This character is similar to Farlander´s new character in Sam&Max style --->  http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=8769

I hope that it likes you  :)

Hurrah it is cool, you have the same talent of Farlander :P
Are you the same person ^_^

I like the hair but im not sure she would be wearing high heels if she was cheerleading.

Anyway, its good :) keep at it

Awesome first character La Lore!

I like it a lot!  Now if you really want to impress up ... animate it (http://www.twin-design.com/friendsmb/graphics/smilies/smilies_wide.gif)

As for what Tier said I think I have to agree ... cheerleading in high heels?  That could be dangerous!!

Great job!

~ darthMANDARB

Edit - If she's cheering for AGS I'm glad to be on the team!!!

Incredible... I go to work... And when I come back, I have a post-it attached to my comp... Lore has posted in Critics Lounge! :o

BTW, nice paint... But I haven´t tech you, you did it alone Lorena... I really like the sprite, but we´ll work so it will seem that both sprites have been done by the same person.

That makes me question to myself... The background tutorial will take me so much time, time that I don´t have, sorry... So, will you people be interested in one characters tutorial?

Here is my version... As you can see... I just use the dress, sorry Lorena  :)

BTW.. i havn´t explained well to her which char she must be... She must be a little bit "inaccessive" at the beginning...

I´ve removed teh high heels in one of the versions.

Edit: She´s not an AGS girl... She´s a girl of the "Arthur Gray Smith" High School. It´s a little in-joke  ;)

Very nice, Lorena!

I think there's something wrong with her smile, it's too pointy.

And Nacho - wow!

That looks really nice! ;D

I had a good comment in mind when reading the replys, but I forgot it... well, I'm sure it will come around again... eventually... :P

Great! New version is even better :)

Farlander- yours is great too (her face kinda reminds me on Trixy (or what was her name) from S&M).

Trixya... yeah, I used that sprite as a model... I am working in it to make that less evident. :)

Maybe you could raise the waist line or maybe make the legs longer,
but aside from that, it looks great!

Nice anim... It needs some retouches in some frames (Head?) BTW... People will critisize it, as this post will bring the thread to the first position of the Forum!  :)

Your first animation?!  :o

I just had to butt in to say that it's amazing - especially for a first try! Did you use any reference? It's something I still would have problems making. I'm no animator, you know. :) The simple yet distinct fingers are absolutely fantastic.

Yeah, I agree with Farlander on the fact that the head's motion is perhaps a bit extreme. On the one frame where it kind of nods, perhaps you could move it one pixel on the left making it a bit more subtle. Though I like the effect a lot, so I wouldn't like seeing the nodding go away.

One thing that I'm not sure whether it's just a special feature for this character or the way you would do it for all characters, but her arms' motion looks kind of like she's swimming in the air. Again, I'm not sure what you were going for - it works great on this character - but if it's just your way of doing the arm animation, I would suggest taking a look at it for the other characters.

Again, amazing!!! :o

Pessi: Yeah, It is heavily inspired in trixia, I heavily recommend to use ripped files if you feel insecure with the animations (Please, sorry me if I had to specificate it before).

I don´t like some of the frames on the head either.

I can´t really understand that of "swimming in the air", well, if you mind that it could be weird if I do it in all the characters, as I said, they are Trixia´s frames.

PS: Choose one

They ares to similar. Can you help me to differenciate them? (sunglasses, ear rings, make up). Well any item posh girls use...

Is it supposed to be a nightdress? Check out http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=nightdress.

I think you mean maybe ballgown or party dress ...

As for the cheerleading team: an easy change is to make them taller or shorter or to introduce some ethnic diversity (.ie replace skin colour)

It's funny how groups of three girls always seem to have one redhead, one blond and one brunette: Powerpuffs, Charlie's Angels, etc.

Tranquila, La Lore: la mas guapa del mundo (mi esposa) tiene lo mismo error, y tu ingles es mas bien de mi castellano, por seguro.

First pic is best for me, too, by the way.

Each subsequent revision/new character gets better and better. I especially like the half-dress on the blonde character. The red-head manages to look very different, even after having used the same character as a base.

You, I think, succeeded in creating three distinctly different characters.

In addition, I like the first, more glamorous dress on the brunette.

Evil: Really, I don´t know what is the yellow dress. I was using new effects with the paint shop pro and when I saw this, I liked it.    ;)

I´ve decided to use the first evening dress, really it is most "glamourous" than the second.

Out of curiosity was the redhead supposed to lose her glasses in the evening dress? (If a person has contacts they usually wear them all the time unless they are at home just chilling out).

Not sure about the color for the glasses either... you could easily use black for both poses, and it wouldnt clash too much... (I know im new here, but constructive criticism is appreciated, no?);

I think you should remove the gradients.

Note by Farl: The dresses are suposes to be made in a strange fashioned material, so, the textures are no problem.  :) We don´t animate them, just test what happens if the put random textures in each frame... Just a test, we´ll say how it results... :)
