Title: Background, Title, and Cutscene Frame
Post by: TheQisSilent on Fri 12/12/2003 01:08:30
OK, I'm not ashamed to admit it- I'm terrible at drawing backgrounds on the computer.  Here I have three background-type images for a cutscene in my upcoming game, "Afro Jones- In Color."  The first is a background, the second is an introductory shot of the hero (Afro Jones), and the third is the title.  As you can tell, all of these were made with state-of-the-art tech... erm... *sigh* MS Paint.  So here are my terrible pictures.  Any hints or improvements will be greatly appreciated.

Hey, what the hell's wrong with those? I love 'em!

When's this game coming out anyway? I love AGS games in those style...reminds me of a couple favorites:
Larry Vales
Chez Apa

Jus keep it consistant, and it'll be great.  Definitely better than the AGS classic Pleurghburgh (Now, can you beat the plot?)

Well thanks for the comments, guys, though I'd still like to improve 'em just a bit ;)

When'll it be out?  Hard to say.  So far I'm still working on the opening cut scene, though it is 90% done.  When that's done I'll post it up, both so you guys will know what to expect and to get some pointers on how to make it better.

They are cool... but you should've made the character black. The name Afro Jones doesn't seem to suit a white guy to me... :P

I agree. I would prefer a black hero as well because, in my opinion, the name really doesn't fit the character you're using right now.  :P

But he has all the rythm of a white guy! ;)

There are several reasons why I'm not making him black, although trust me, I did consider it.  You'll see why when you play the game.

He looks somewhat Hispanic to me.

Anyway, this looks promising. Afro Jones... that reminds me of something I drew when I was younger... I'll post when I find it.

So he's one of those Wigger guys? You know, he a white guy who thinks he's black... like Eminem.

He's not as much a Wigger as he is a guy stuck in a past that he didn't even belong to.  The easiest way to get it is think of Disco Stu, now replace the word "aging" in his "aging hipster" persona with the word wannabe.  You'd be surprised how well this character plays.

Evil: Don't worry, it won't be a giant joke game.  It'll be funny, but in the same sense that Sam n Max and Monkey Island aren't joke games, neither will this be one .

Cutscene's almost done.  All I have to do is draw up a few more characters for scenery and I'll post it up.
