Title: C&C my char for a school assignment
Post by: Buckethead on Sat 24/02/2007 14:37:13
hi there,

I've applied for Game design at my school for next year. To see if I'm right for it I now I have to do 3 assignments. One of them is drawing a character. So I grabt a piece of paper and a pencil and started drawing. I've never skeched a character before. He's suppose to be a bit rebelish and he's stuck in a city where un human creatures rule.

Do I need to change anything before I'm gonna take a shot a coloring him in photoshop?

thanks in advance!  :)

Well it's an ok character for a first try.

One thing that sticks out to me is that his mouth is pretty low. It would look more natural if it wasn't so far below the nose. Another thing is the length of the torso. If you look at it you'll see his legs are very long compared to his arms and body.

It looks like his pants are pulled up far to high like bernard from day of the tentacle.  Because he is a rebel character and not a sylized cartoon nerd I don't think it is working very well for him,  so I would recomend looking at photo references and changing the ratio between upper body and lower body.  Oh, and one ear sticks out a lot further than the other ear.

Other than that its a good start, I hope you post the colored version of it.

The arms seem a little short - if I remember correctly, arms generally come down to about mid thigh level. Stand up and let your arms hang - that'll give you a good idea of it.
