Title: Faty Character crit
Post by: fmt on Thu 16/07/2009 03:17:52
Hi! I draw this character today...

I haven't drawn anything for a very long time now so I need some beloved criticism to improve my style  ;D

It's a basic fat man. I was going for that "skinny legs, big arms, giant belly" look

Not counting color...but it might have 12? I dunno... ???

*EDIT

New version with different arm position

I think it looks pretty good. I think that changing a few things around might help it's functionality.

I chose a green bg color because it looked best with the palette. I changed the arms a bit, to make them more relaxed and give him a "fatter" attitude. The one to the right is a beefed up fatty, with a tank top for some reason. :P

Oops, I forgot to finish his anchor tattoo! Oh well.

I don't know. I felt that the character could use a more comical roundness look. Here's my attempt.

Maybe more comical but silhouete is now simpler a less distinctive and thus less interesting, so you might wanna find some middle ground.

Keep the original(different arm pos) character and shade it like Brad did (use same colors too).
Or use Brads body with original head.
Perfect.

Yeah, I do agree with InCreator. The colors and shadings are better in Brad Newson's paint-over, but I like the personality of the original character more than the other one's. The first looks a good guy, the kind of big man that doesn't use his size to be overbearing, a great beer drinker, and a centaur maybe.

The other one loses the "good guy" appearance as he lacks his eyes.
