Title: my first room, complete with unrealistic shadows, and lack of detail!
Post by: Skurai on Tue 31/08/2004 10:53:55
the title says it allÃ,  ;)

1xÃ,  Ã,  2x

It suposed to be like, a classroom, however my drawing skills mutated it to what you see in front of you lol

you hava half finished the room, don't post it if you KNOW it sucks, add some detail and then post it, else you will get a BIG list

Balckman i find that kind of ironic coming from you.

Now skurai, try adding more tables, a simple copy and paste would do it. You should try looking around your room/classroom what kind of things do you have? I would suggest adding posters, a world map, a globe, pencil pots and that kind of thing. The potential is there, you just have to forfill it.

I think it needs desks and some posters on the wall, the desk shadow isnt that bad...

And blackman he has made a good attempt on the room and is asking what he can add for more detail, this is obviously NOT a 3 minute work up

EDIT: would it be possible to upload a version with the P point visable? We need it to do paintovers (some people can find it by the lines but I never got the hang of doing this :/ )

is it just me or does the black board slant a bit.
and maybe add the right wall into the pic.

thanks for the comments, except for blackman (just kiddingÃ,  :P) *maybe he diden't catch on to all the sarcasm, and poking fun at myself.. oh well.*

alright, i tired to strighten out the blackboard, and i _tried_ to add a desk, with poor resultsÃ,  ;D:

and Hotspot, i'd love to upload a copy with the P point visible, but first I have to ask you one very important question.... what exactly is a P point?

Hello Skurai...

Your biggest problems are perspective issues, try following tutorials on perspective. try googling them :)

I made a picture for you to show you why the perspective lines aren't correct:

I made a little example too.
As you can see, your perspective lines all point to a different spot

In my picture the depth lines all point to the same point, which will make it correct in appearance.

so when making a new room, first draw a square, then decide the vanishing point, then draw all corners to that point and fiddle along that road....
Hope I've been a little helpful, if I said something wrong, please correct me :)

greets

N3T is right IF you want perspective ...

When I first saw this I thought (assumed) you were going for an isometric-ish look to the image.Ã,  Where there is no vanishing point and every angle is the same.

If that's the case, you should make all lines go like this:

Ã, Ã,  Ã, [][]
[][]

A 2 to 1 ratio ... if you're line goes up and to the right, it should go up 1 pixel for every 2 pixels to the right.

Does that make sense?

Also a warning, Isometric can be VERY difficult to work with in AGS, it takes a lot of getting used to!

ok ok I'm sorry ;) i just forgot how hard i am to everyone so sorry

now back to the pickture

*add another foot on the chair, and also fix the perspective on the back of the chair

hm, well, yes, that is the look i was going for, but i just thought i should keep perspective in mind for future rooms.

and blackman890, apology acceptedÃ,  ;D and um, your images aren't showing upÃ,  :-\

EDIT: Seeing as how i'm the master of the universe, i decided to re-invent perspective. so you see NT3Graph, my pic now has more perspective then you can shake a stick at, for example:

see? i dare anyone to try to shake a stick at all that perspective, it just can't be done.

*if you haden't already guessed, everything after "EDIT:" was a jokeÃ,  :P*

well, will i get an award?

fixed the perspective on everything exept the small table and the blackboard
i made it all go to one pixel 1 x 1 not 2 x 2
