I've been working on this map for my game for... a while now, and I hope t'is finished. Its only the base, though instead of pictures, there will be sparklies =) Comment, critique, anything to make this sceen better =P If you're wondering how I coloured in all the hills, and stuff, I'll tell y'all later =). Its amazing how staring at a game for hours could make you pick up it's style. Oh, and I forgot. Deluxe Paint. Again.

Nice!  :)

But did you mean for it to stick up out of the water that high?

Yup, I did. It's explained in the game why noone can leave or enter the island. It has something to do with the mythical inhabitants...

L3N5FL4R3!!!!!!!  ;D

Nice map, i think it will look great in game if you add some animations like the waterfull or water sparkle or... lensflare!

It's very nice indeed. I think if you added some moving semi-transparent clouds it will be very cool

Ah, I like the style - I just love the fact that it's going to be Discworld-influenced, first of all... :)
I don't think there's anything really wrong with it, but I spotted two tiny things:

- The waterfall-thingie probably should be blue-ish all the way, instead of grey.
- Made the fence a bit darker - I felt it looked better that way.

Otherwise it's great! Keep it up, man!

Thats very good. You said you did this on Deluxe Paint? You said something about mythical inhabitants or something, sounds like 5 days a stranger but on an island. Sounds very interesting. Love the style keep up the good work! ;)

OKaay..

Hotspot: Unfortuanately, Deluxe Paint does not have a L3N5 FL43R!!!!!111!!!!!1111!!!!!111!!1!1!one option, it isn't 1337 enough. I should complain! But as for the animations, a definate maybe. If I have time.

Guybrush: Clouds! Excellent idea. I'll experiment with that later. But i doubt I could have them moving... it IS a 8bit game and our lord CJ can't add transparencies. I could mock up a FAKE transparency with fixed colours or dithering.. hm... I'll look into it.

Rincewind: Hehe, its my major influence for most things, actually. Apart from the fact that I've spent to long looking at StS that I've melded styles x_X And I did the waterfall by means of a semi-transparent brush. Have you ever seen a waterfall that's blue all the way down, when it kinda just... falls off? =P I remember DW1 vaguely.. it had a rimfall. And that, I do believe, was grey because of the blackness behind it. There's madness in my method! But that edit looks soo more animatable =P. I'll see. And I think I will edit the fence. Thanks for the tips!

Rap4life: Thankye! And yes, I did do it totally on deluxe paint.. at least to colour it. And amazingly, I wasn't thinking of 5DAS... I'm thinking more along the lines of: If ye dunnae wanna troll comin' round fer tea, dun invade his territory. In other words, in order fr them to leave you alone, and you to leave them alone, remove the opportunity. Ergo, the island is innaccessable and unleavable. Hehe.

Yours.

hey there, couple things that bother me about this image are listed below, won't you join me below this sentence?

Hi, glad you could make it! So here's my little edit:

there's an awkward halo around the majority of objects in the scene. here there's blue and green and brown around the black outline.

mine is on top yours is on the bottom [oh la la], see the little specks of light in the forest area? i took those out in mine, i only saw them when i enlarged it to full screen and they really bothered me. I'm kind of bothered by the black lines around the trees and such, not so much that they're there but that they're not ALWAYS there. Sometimes they completely disappear and the line is never completed.

I also think those mountains could use another pass, they look really flat to me and maybe if you defined a light source you could have shadows define the volume of the rocks

any help?

well good luck and keep on keepin on cause it's looking good!
