I'd like to see it a little lighter so I could really tell, but I think you may have accentuated the outlines too much.

It looks like a very good background that was messed up with an emboss-filter.  I like the style, lines & coloring but that line-emphasis embossed look kinda kills it.

I agree that if it were a bit lighter it would be easier to examine. However, I think that the embossed lines give the image a unique style which, though wouldn't work very well for a game maybe, looks very interesting as an image. If you were to emboss all the lines in the image instead of just some of them, the style would look more consistent IMO.

Other than that, I think the choice of colors really gives it a specific mood, well done
