Made with Photoshop, only using default brushes and the dodge/burn tools. Comments please.

The first one looks distorted. It seems, as if the river would suddenly turn into a waterfall, which I assume, it doesn't. The treetop lokks like a pinhead. I've never seen a natural grown tree lokking like that. The cattails are too big. I don't get the perspective, anyway. Maybe you should rethink (and remake) the right part of the image.

The second one is much better. The bridge is well done, but the dirt path shouldn't be so blurred. Make it more noisy, and it will look fine. The flowers ... hm, I don't exactly know, why the bother me. Maybe they don't look like flowers, but like pins in the ground. It certainly would be better, if they had petals of something. The reflections of light on the river are well done. Gives me a phantastic flair overall.

If these are meant to be for a surrealistic game there awesome! If not they need some serious work. If your going to use this in a game, the player sprites will have to be blurred to look right with the background. Excellent and interesting!

Is that cool? Well.. yes, but it all depends on the kind of game are you making. They'll fit really fine an avant-garde, funny or surrealistic theme, but for realistic.. I think they won't be good enough (incorrect perspective and blah, blah, blah...). Anyway, Taffytom already've said that.

Personally I like the second picture (a bridge) the most.

While first one looks boring and n00b to me, I just LOVE what you did on second.

This super high contrast, isometric perspective and whole 3D-ness of picture is simply superb.
Especially "live" is the water where it meets bridge at the bottom side of image.

Try to polish and master your style, it's worth it.
I'd suggest smaller brush sizes to make more clear outline/edge areas, so it wouldn't look like finger painting. Also, use more little details, these flowers at 2nd pic look very unique and awesome.
